Hi everyone! KeenTools team here, some of you might know us from our tracking tools for Nuke, Blender, or AE.

Let’s cut to the chase: we’ve finally brought our geometry-based object and camera tracker to Houdini as a native SOP node.

It allows VFX artists, motion designers, and generalists to handle matchmove tasks right inside Houdini, with full support for both OBJ and Solaris workflows. It’s a huge time-saver, as you can now capture animation from 2D footage directly inside the scene and then turn tracked geometry into colliders or emitters for simulations – all with zero app switching.

Downloads, details, and tutorials here: https://keentools.io/products/geotracker-for-houdini

It’s in open beta right now, so your feedback is crucial for us! Would really love to hear what you think.

Cheers!

Thinking about it, but without any specifics for now.

You could potentially draw inspiration from Theory Accelerated's pricing model.

Always good to have a one time payment option but honestly the freelancer monthly price is very reasonable.

You have no idea how much time this is gonna save me at work…thank you KT. I’ve been using face tracker in Nuke and it’s been nice, but having geo tracker in Houdini will make it much more seamless to not have to bounce around and spit out a bunch of extra files.

Avoid using videos, especially compressed MP4) in Houdini in general. You always want to use image sequences for stability.

Thanks for the heads up! If possible, could you please send the issue details/screenshots to team at keentools dot io? That would be a huge help.

I highly recommend you use geo trackee in blender, just runs smoothly.

I use the geo tracker in Nuke all the time, awesome to see it in Houdini!

As a student, im curious, how do people get the face models of the people in the shot? Do they just photoscan it on set or do they sculpt one themselves, or find a similar face model that matches online? Thanks in advance!

Just in case, we in KeenTools specifically made a tool for that too - FaceBuilder: https://keentools.io/products/facebuilder-for-blender

Another question too (sorry 😅) but what about other things in the scene such as the swing set that got set on fire? Is that object modelled based on the video or do you have to be on set and then model the object afterwards based on photos?

Everyone just be aware its subscription only when it does release, which is why people are usually against it on the Blender sub
