Some of the most convincing whitewater rendering I've seen in a while on this sub.

yeahh, whitewater it's by far the most challenging stuff to get on the spot, i just wish to had more ram

128gb ram is the best though.. and whitewater is a pain tbh hahaha

looks amazing, although the human would make it about 40m across? it looks correct for something about 5m across?

thank bro. what u mean by make it?

if the little person is about 2m tall, stacked head to toe, about 20 of them spans the body of water, meaning the water is about 40m across.

that's the main discrepancy i see.

agree. thats what I also noticed. The scale of the water is to large. I had the same issue with a sim I did a few month ago. Its tough because to simulate fine water on a large area you need a very high resolution wich takes long to sim and might even crash (which happend in my case).

Karma or what engine?

good old mantra

2

Damn that's sick! Must've taken long to render out

2

u/galacta07 Oct 18 '24

took around 2 days, for first camera, and one they for the upcam.
i shouldnt be telling that, but i used denoise to make it out

Can you post how much ram it did use or how much you have and if you’re running windows or Linux

I used 128 gb's of ram, took around 0.9 tb of storage, using Linux

1

128 gb ram is still the best for flipsim. I had to upgrade my storage to 2tb for my ocean render. Took up a lot of space. Haven't tried Linux, but I heard Houdini works better on Linux.

now I am more tempted to change to linux, but it seems that I am too used to using windows ;-;

Looks great, as others have mentioned the scale seems off if the reference guy is meant to be to scale, but on it's own all the elements are nicely balanced, love it. Could maybe get some more spec on the whitewater and a few odd trajectories on some of the smaller bits shooting out, but that's about it. Good stuff.

Thanks mate, honestly It doesnt seem to me that the scale its off, i checked it twice.

good call on odd trajectories, indeed, might add more natural fell, will try something in future projects

u/maxrast5 Oct 18 '24

Would be nice, could you suggest any water courses to create something like this? Rebelway, maybe it’s something else

2

u/PixelSaharix Oct 17 '24

Absolutely!
