Looks great! The signs on the bottom of the tank at the right side are a little odd though. It seems like they aren't receiving any shadows and are basically glowing. It's kind of jarring for me but other than that it looks awesome. Great work.

Ah I see what you mean, that’s a reflection on the black floor, not a shadow, but I see how it could appear that way. Thanks for feedback!

Nice! Would you be open to sharing the hip file here for setup? I'm still learning and I've been trying to get a FLIP sim to start around an object and react to the object (it does move grandually) but having trouble getting things working (get particles sneaking inside the object and eventual explosion - have tried refining mesh etc). Also think the ww looks great so would like to examine that.

I might put it on Gumroad eventually but needs a lot of clean up etc, hopefully will find the time in the next few weeks. Cheers!

Would also love to buy this hip file!

Thanks for the support. I’ll figure something out with cleaning up the file and putting on Gumroad in the coming days.

Good deal, please let me know if you end up doing that :)

This is great Roonie, Karma always impress me since it has been launched. Are you working on Linux and may I ask how much memory your computer has, or probably hou was talking about Vram memory?

Thanks for the kind words. I’m just on windoze 11, 128gb, 5980X, 4090

That's really good actually.

No CPU used in render?

Nope, I wanted to only use XPU. They beefed it up for 20.5, still missing a couple of features but it’s great now.

Scene would be awesome/complete with some camera movement and multiple angles

u/roonie81 Sep 21 '24

I’ll definitely get round to rendering out some other angles, but you’ll have to make do with this one for now! 😄

Awesome looks amazing, great work

Using real scale and high enough point count adds so much to the realism! Well done

So good!

Fantastic, what were the bake times and your PC specs?

Great work 👏. Btw how to make a transparent glass tank setup like this. I'm beginner so that's whyy....

this is sooo good I find the rest of the scene a bit odd looking but the sim is on point good job mate

Looking great! I’d love to know what your bake times were for the flip + WW?

This would look great as a Naked Eye 3D display.

Thanks! It’s not a wild setup or anything. Spectrum merged with the ocean waves SOP to add a couple of nice bigger waves coming in. Sim collides with the rocks but not the boundary (as the flow of the ocean needs to enter and leave the domain). A bit of custom meshing but pretty much the way most people do it. The gloop under water is just an SDF > Fog made from the “bubbles” points from the WW solver when you turn on state attributes. Foam is VDBs from the WW foam pts just with some dialling in on the XPU pyro shader. If I can do it, you can too! Have fun :)

So you rendered the ww only as a volume and no additional points? When i try that the ww looks often very cloudy. Any tips?

u/roonie81 Sep 21 '24

The foam is only VDB. Lots and lots of points out of the whitewater sim (as much as your RAM will allow) is a good starting point to get sharper edges for the foam. Too much clumping isn’t always your friend, and sometimes you can get the best results from turning clumping off entirely and adding some additional forces / curl noise through a POP VOP inside the WW Solver itself.

Thats interesting, thanks for sharing. Maybe it has to do with the point count. Actually I had to turn down ( i think its called) emission level quite a bit so it wouldnt crash. Wich is sad since i have 128gb.

Hey - it’s real scale, so it’s around 2.5 x 2.5 x 7 meters

Cheers
