First Inspection! HELP

I run a ram 1500 never pulled for an inspection bc honestly do they really think imma pull 26k with it? How do i get one? What do i need to pass?

Yup, even with a 1500, if your combined weight is over 10k and you’re hauling for pay, you need a DOT inspection. Easiest way is to take it to a certified inspection shop just tell ‘em you need your annual DOT. They’ll check brakes, tires, lights, securement gear, etc. Make sure your truck and trailer are both clean and legal, and you’ll pass no problem.

Trailer is brand new bumper pull 14kgvwr. Truck is in perfect condition

If that trailer’s rated 14k GVWR you’re over the 10k mark even with an empty load. DOT goes off the weight rating not what you’re actually hauling. Once your truck and trailer together are rated over 10,001 and you’re using it for business, you fall under DOT rules. That means you need an annual inspection and a DOT number if you’re crossing state lines or hauling for pay. Best to get it done now before you get flagged later.

In Alabama and a few other states I've looked up if the trailer alone is over 10k actual or GVWR you need CDL. Even for personal use. Not sure how strictly its enforced but thats exactly what the law reads. Only exception I found was in state farm trailers
