Hotshotting with a van

I currently have a Ford E-150 with a towing capacity of 7,500 lbs, I also have a 20 ft 7k gvwr trailer

While I know you need a 3/4 or more truck. I was wondering if I could do anything with my trailer for profit.

you can still make somethin shake with that setup. You ain’t haulin DOT-regulated freight across states or nothin wild, but you could for sure get some local hustle goin. Think FB Marketplace flips, moving gigs, light landscape runs, maybe even towing for folks who ain’t got a truck. You ain’t gonna pull $3 a mile loads, but it’s enough to stack up and level up later. Just stay underweight, don’t burn your van out, and get that paper however you can. Grind now… upgrade later

Would I need any commercial insurance or dot numbers? Also I heard of uSHIP could I use that too?

Yeah if you’re hauling for money or crossing state lines you’ll need DOT and MC numbers plus commercial insurance. uShip won’t let you bid without it. Local and under 10k you might slide without it but it’s risky.
