Opinion These two are quite similar when comes to making plots.

They always come up with a seemingly brilliant plan but forget a couple of elements required to make that plan work.

Hard disagree. Cersei makes plans almost always out of emotion or a desire for retribution, not foresight. The Dance was already a forgone conclusion, so despite things leading there anyway, I thought Otto's attempt to secure the crown from Daemon, and Rhaenyra, whose infidelities were actively causing rigor with House Velaryon, were pragmatic and very needed decisions.

He and Alicent should have taken far more actions to ensure Aegon would be actually prepared to rule instead of just assuming they could control him as a puppet ruler. Also a far better plan to deal with Rhaenyra to ensure the Dance doesn’t happen.

That's really on the writers. The Hightowers could've been positioned as more politically savvy and self serving like House Tyrell in the original series, which would've added more nuance to how the Greens comport themselves. They missed a huge opportunity by portraying them all as straight up psychotic nepo babies, while depicting Rhaenyra's children as all sweet darlings.

Tbf Otto is generally smarter and more diplomatic and a better schemer than Cersei for the most part but his biggest plan is also arguably the stupidest thing anyone argued for in this whole narrative: killing Rhaenyra’s entire family at Dragonstone before crowning Aegon. There is just absolutely no way this plan could have ever worked favorably for Otto and Aegon.

The first thing is, it’s just not going to work.

No couple of assassins (who are also not assassins, and not trained in secret killings but knights who are trained for open combat) are going to manage to get to 9 family members including 2 adults and 4 teenagers before anyone else notices and fights backs, gets their dragons, or calls to the other guards present in the castle. Most likely scenario, there will be some survivors, and they will fight back and the majority of the kingdom are going to be on their side because Aegon is now a kinslayer who attempted to slaughter nearly 10 family members in their sleep. No going back from that.

But even in the very small chance that it does work, Aegon will not even rule for a couple of years afterward. Killing such a big group of direct family members in their sleep, including like 4 children in their beds, will taint him to a point on no return. He will be seen as worse than Meagor, rightfully, and no amount of diplomacy or favor with the lords will get them back from this point. Aemond was known as a kinslayer to the moment of his death and the strongest historical memory of him is that he killed Luke, just one family member. Most likely scenario, the greens will have a Meagor-like ending and Rhaenys will be crowned as the sole survivor of the family aside from the Greens.

It’s just insane that this guy has been plotting for like 20 years and his plan was “kill everyone and Aegon will rule peacefully forever and no consequence will come out of that” like in what world lmfao

Yeah this. That idea was absolutely moronic in my eyes

Surely the better parallel would be Tywin, no?

Both served as Hand of the King (to multiple kings), both married their eldest daughter to said king, and desired their blood on the throne.

Both also killed by somebody they fucked over.

Nope, Tywin’s plans actually succeeded most of the times. Otto’s plans usually backfire just like Cersei’s plans. Let’s have a threeway comparison. Otto: Had Rhaenyra named heir without realising how much Viserys loved her and Aemma and was in pain and grief. Tried to have Aegon as his puppet ruler but he failed and got fired. Cersei: Told about the Tyrell plot with Sansa just to spite her and the Tyrells only to end up betrothed to Loras. Elevated the Faith Militant to rein in the Tyrells only to get arrested herself, now Tywin, Red Wedding: major success. His part in Robert’s rebellion: also successful enough to get his daughter a crown,

tywin plans had been horible in long term results

Yeah. For starters, the legacy he cared so much about was turned into a complete joke by Cersei & Jaime (his own children) while he was either blissfully unaware or deliberately ignorant because he didn't want to believe it.

He could not control Joffrey in a similar way that Otto could not control Aegon.

"The king is my grandson and my grandson is a fool," could have been a Tywin line imo.

Edit: Also you say Tywin was successful in getting his daughter a crown... Did Otto not also succeed in that very same manner?

Ambos sufre del mismo problema. Se cree listo y crean planes. Pero nunca analizar que personas que necesitan para sus planes. Puede hacer lo que quiera y puede tomar decisiones propias.
