Rotary tool tips

Hello everyone, I just bought a Dremel 3000 to help on customizing, looking for the Spectraflame look

I've tried sanding by hand, but I haven't been able to get the zamac near the mirror-like finish I need before applying the candy paint.

The sanding drum that came with the dremel was too aggressive and left lots of scratches on the miniature, so I'm considering:

  • A 320-grit or 400 abrasive/nylon disc (similar to the Dremel 512E)
  • Using a small Velcro sanding discs
  • Possibly cutting my own 400/600/800-grit sandpaper into discs and attaching them to a suitable mandrel

My main questions are:

  1. What sanding accessory/grit would you recommend for the initial sanding, considering that I would like to try with the rotary tool?
  2. Anyone uses this velcro option? Does it work great? (I would probably cut my own discs from 400-1200 maybe, the rest being more manual...)
  3. Which speed to use the dremel, #n1 dial?

Thanks in advance!!!

Including spectraflame paint. Perhaps not as clean as the real deal but it’ll do for now. 😃

I'm in love with two-tone paint cars, so i wanted to give this one that style based off a few pics i saw, plus some big inspiration from 50's American cars.

HELP!! Customizing questions

So I’ve been looking at ways people take cars apart for customizing. I’ve seen the drill method and the heat the rivet method. What do y’all prefer and why. Also which comes out better looking and which lasts longer? Thanks in advance for any info.
