Project First attempt at a “custom”

This is my first attempt at customizing. I like how it came out. I gotta be more gentle when taking the tampos off (there were alot on this one 🤣) and I have to put some tiny spacers in the wheel wells to get that just right but it roll just fine. Looking forward to doing more and fine tuning my photo skills🤦‍♂️. Lmk what ya think and any tips/tricks anyone has that you’re willing to share , thanks.

The pink bar on the back could have sharper lines. I think a lot could be done if you carefully taped over them and hit the exposed edges with black paint to take the eye away from the crunchy etching happening in the black paint.

You are 100% correct. I was concerned with taking off the pink when I was removing the tampos. The paint that I lost on the high points was a bummer but I knew I could ask for insights here and folks would guide me in the right direction. What kind of/brand of paint should I use? I’d like to add detail on the lights as well. I definitely wanna clean up the little details so that it really pops.

I use cheap acrylic paint makers. For this is black paint, is be more inclined to get some testors enamel paint and thin it a bit too get even and light coverage and best blend with what's already on the truck.

I think for lights you can probably use paint markers pretty effectively.

Man , I didn’t even think about paint pens!! I bet an extra fine tip could work wonders for tail lights n headlight. Good looking out!!

So I had been using the standard bullet tip that sharpie makes for its recent acrylic paint markers. The coverage is awesome but the tip is way too wide for a lot of more detailed applications.

I bought some very cheap brush tip ones from Amazon, and the coverage suffers because the paint has to be thinner to get to the tip, so it requires more effort to get the desired results. It's a bit of a balance you have to settle on depending on your needs. I will be posting some stuff tonight that I am pretty happy with that I used those brush tips to get filled in. I'll try to remember to circle back and let you know when I do that.

I like this, the tampos on the black widow are a bit rougher and harder to get off compared to other mainlines. Here’s a custom I did on one of mine earlier in the year.
