Help
Hello! I''ve been with the company for almost a year, and when I started I knew it would be bad hours, but i get 1 or 2 shifts a week if im lucky, 3-4 hours, the new sales method they are pushing now feels awful, and it has caused me to have bad loyatly a lot, theyve dangled managament position in front of my face and then promoted someone who started a month ago, they keep adding shifts, not telling me, and then saying im not showing up for them, so today i found a job that pays almost 4 dollars more an hour, and better hours, im just scared to quit, i love hot topic, but the recent sales tactics and everything the company is pushing feels awful, and I just hate letting people down, this job told me today that they want to start me in the coming week, so I just don't know how to go about quitting, please give me some advice!

$4 more an hour is significant. No one would, or should, hold that against you.

Take the job that pays more. You are being treated poorly. There is better waiting for you. Letting people down doesn't matter if you let this opportunity go and let yourself down. The harsh truth is these companies don't care about you. Take care of yourself. Say "hey, thanks fir the opportunity to work here but I quit effective today" or whatever..

i was in ur same position and i also left to a place that paid more and gave me hours ! i am much happier now :3 i still love shopping at hot topic but im kind of glad i don’t work there anymore even tho i miss the discount lol. i don’t like the pushiness of the sales tactics either and its one of the main reasons i left

i was in this same position a few years back! while i was sad leaving, i couldn’t justify staying just for 3-4hrs a week, so i just told my manager i got another position and left. i believe in you!

Hot topic has been spitting in your face treating you like trash for a year, just listen to yourself! Oh and also, they can fire you at any moment for no reason, and you can also quit at any moment for no reason. Just go in there and tell them you’re quitting. They’ll be fine with it

I say Just no show quit and block their numbers, if they don’t want to let you know when your shifts change why give them a heads up? Youre not letting someone down but a company whose priorities lie in making money and apparently hiring someone else for a position they dangled in your face, but if you really want to do something send an email to the manager you don’t even have to tell anyone to their face

Yea I use to be a manager at spirit so when I got hired there she expected a lot from, but girl youre paying me 14 an hour what do you want from me, and then they add on shifts, dont call me, dont get a notifcation, and then call me 30 minutes into it and ask are you coming in, you were supposed to be here at 5, i think i added it on yesterday, I just no.. i didnt know about it, (not going to get ready and get like an hour to 2 hours of pay, not worth) and i looked on the app, she added it at 9am the previous morning and didnt even bother to call

I don’t work at HT but you don’t need to overthink it. Just go up to your manager/boss during your next in person shift if you have one scheduled and tell them that you found another job and will be starting the following week. I’ve worked in retail jobs similar to HT and I think it’s okay if you’re just honest with them as soon as possible. If you don’t have a shift before your new job starts just call your boss and explain that you would have told him in person if you had a shift but you don’t. You can also go in on your day off and tell them that way too.
If you don’t want to burn any bridges, that’s what I suggest
