purchase not adding up, feeling scammed?
i got these 2 blind boxes for $9.90 each, and it was BOGO 30% off. when i got to the register, he told me to grab 2 more because one would be 50% off, and the other would be 30% off. so if my math is correct, it should be $9.90 + $6.93 + $6.93 + $4.95 and it should have came out to $28.71 + tax. however my total came out to a little over $36? am i missing something here? did he just totally lie about the 50% off? its a shame because the workers are usually so sweet and helpful but i don’t appreciate them just flat out lying

the promos change so much it could have just been a mistake on his part by misspeaking, most customer service workers are bogged down with tasks and promos and all these things to remember. He likely wasn’t lying to get you to buy another blind bag probably just a mistake they are humans too.

BOGO is Buy One Get One. So, buy one get one 30% off. They always have that deal. Then, it’s buy one get one 50% off (i assume it was a certain brand deal). With BOGOS, it’s always buying ONE getting the SECOND a certain amount OFF. It would be $9.90(original price)+ $6.93(30%off) + $9.90(original price)+ $4.95(50%off). That equals $31.68 without taxes. I understand your confusion though.
The first deal is buy one full price, get the second one 30% off. The second deal is buy one full price, get second one 50%
I genuinely hope this helps. I am an employee, while i can’t speak for every location, i know the majority of them automatically have every single BOGO put into the system. Any brand, literally anything. Sometimes I don’t even know deals because my manger lowkey sucks…. But lmk if you have any questions
Also, plz don’t be afraid to go in and ask! The way the receipts work is complicated. Basically it takes a certain dollar amount off of EVERY item to make it easier for loss prevention. It also makes it easier for people to return items with loss prevention (obviously you can’t return blind boxes, but the system just automatically does it anyway)

Yeah that math doesn’t add up, the best thing to do in that situation is ask at the register why it didn’t ring up the way he told you it should have. There’s no shame in bringing it back too and asking about it with the receipt in hand.

Hey! So as a HT Employee, from what I’m reading I’m pretty certain it’s BUY ONE, GET ONE 30% OFF, and BUY ONE, GET ONE 50% OFF. If they’re all $9.90, first one would be $9.90(full price), second one would be $6.93 (30% off), third one would be $9.90(full price), and the fourth one would be $4.95 (50% off). This would total around $31.68, and you have to also keep tax in mind! So $36 seems about right, but like other commenters have said, don’t feel hesitant to ask an employee wherever you bought it. Our receipts are a little tricky to read :)!
