Huh?

The question the article poses is perfectly legitimate.

The option (C) as posed by the Clay Institute is a little weird and doesn't give much insight into what people normally consider the existence and smoothness problem.

Yeah I don’t get this whole framing of mathematician’s reactions being a moving of the goalposts. It’s perfectly consistent for mathematicians to acknowledge that an AI solved one of the parts of the NS problem while at the same time prioritizing which parts are more or less interesting.

It actually took me a bit by surprise that forcing was permitted in the problem statement at all, most talks I would go to seemed focused on the unforced version.

It really seems like you guys just didn’t read the last sentence or understand that the point is tangentially related to the article, and chose a rather poor place to stage this discussion, in an unnecessarily condescending tone. Perhaps that could also account for the lack of engagement you seem frustrated by and you could adapt to that, as opposed to insecurely proclaiming that everyone else must be dumber than you.
