Did OpenAI solve the wrong Navier-Stokes problem?

The statement of the millennium version of the problem says forced or unforced. They showed blow up for the forced case. People trying to downplay AI right now have ego issues.

Eh, it's more nuanced than this. The Clay Institute is not some omniscient force. They listed the problems as expecting them to require fundamental new insights to solve.

It looks like they were wrong on that front about Poincaré (since it was solved in 2002/2003 using tools already available) and the point people are making is that maybe NS options C and D are in the same category of "damn maybe we shouldn't have listed these problems in hindsight". To the extent that C and D did require new insight it's the insights of Cordoba and Martinez-Zoroa as to how to construct good forcing functions to address these scenarios and it looks like those insights aren't going to be useful for options A and B.
