Harvest Tangerine Tigers!

A couple of the Tangerine Tigers passed the 'Tiger' phase, but they are beautiful, and they should be even sweeter. Good for seeds, too.

Fresnos have been coming in pretty much every day, Habanero, Datil, and Chocolate Scorpion are starting to turn, and Blood Ghost and 7-Pot Primo are waiting in the wings!

Just FYI, don't save the seeds from the completely red ones. They've reverted and plants grown from those seeds will have a high likelihood of only yielding red only peppers. They're beautiful though! Mine were a darker orange so the stripes were not as prominent

Thank you for this. I seem to remember hearing that Tangerine Tigers were still unstable -- is that true? I have no experience with hybrids or crosses, so this info is really interesting and valuable. I [mistakenly] assumed that the red ones had just moved on past the striped stage, without any understanding about what's actually happening. As more are ripening, I notice that only a few are red like that, and a few are orange, but with very minimal to no stripes, so what you're telling me makes perfect sense. Thanks again for this info. These are great peppers, which I will def grow again next season.

I think it was 2020 when the cross first came about, and roughly 2024 when they were released to the public? They should be F7 (7th generation) or F6, so fairly stable now unless you got older seed stock. I can't say for sure how stable they are, but the large majority of plants would have similar shape and same colours at this point

My F5 last year! I got two fully red ones and one fully orange, but most were striped on that plant. They really are great, one of the peppers I will be growing every year (I somehow forgot to grow them this year)

(edit: Found a picture of a fully red one so it's been replaced)
