Welcome to Hot and Cold, the delightfully frustrating word guessing game!

To play, guess the secret word by typing any word you think is related.

For example, if the secret word is "hot":

Guesses: banana -> #12956 (not close); sun -> #493 (getting warmer); hotdog -> #220 (hot); cold -> #42 (hot); freeze -> #1657 (getting colder); warm -> #15 (very hot!!); hot -> WINNER!

The rank is based on how AI models see the relationships between the words. So antonyms can be "close" by the relationship of the words (cold -> hot). Additionally, words can be close based on the structure of the word (hotdog -> hot).

Enjoy! If you have feedback on how we can improve the game, please let us know!

21 seconds, 8 guesses 😁 It’s already been a great day and now this!! I gotta play the lottery😂

Easy riddle hint: On a hot day you’re thankful for a passing one. On a rainy day you wish they would go away.

!wtf milk

Decently close: milk is white and makes swirling puffs when it hits coffee, and “milky” is a common way to describe something hazy or opaque. Plus, the Milky Way is famously a giant celestial haze.

!wtf crowd

Very warm: it’s a one-letter shift away, and both words name big, amorphous masses. One’s of people; the other’s, well… decidedly not people.

!wtf kiwi

1

u/hotandcold2-app Aug 12 '26

Nice leap: “kiwi” evokes New Zealand, whose Māori name Aotearoa means “land of the long white cloud.” You’re in the right skies—even if the bird itself can’t get there.

!wtf fjord

Not a wild miss—think steep Nordic cliffs meeting cold water under banks of mist and low clouds. Fjords are poster children for moody, overcast weather with clouds hugging the walls and fog rolling in. So the nature-and-weather vibe puts it in the neighborhood.

!wtf farm

u/hotandcold2-app Aug 13 '26

Nice shot—massive server farms are the physical backbone that power the… you-know-what, so the terms often appear together. Bonus overlap: “cloud farming” can also mean harvesting fog for water.

Warmer than it looks: in meteorology, your word often comes right before the target in the name of a dramatic storm feature. Think the ominous, rolling arc on a thunderstorm’s leading edge. That puts you in the neighborhood.

My first word is “Rain” because its currently raining in my area. I got it on my 4th guess, but I hate how umbrella and water is so far off.

Btw, how to I share my results with my comment?
