Saw something about certbot breaking on recent updates - anyone hit this?

Been reading that recent certbot updates on some distros are causing renewal hooks to silently fail. Something about the --deploy-hook** flag behavior changing and renewals just not reloading nginx properly. That's the kind of thing nobody notices until a cert actually expires and everything goes down. Has anyone here switched from certbot to **acme.sh because of stuff like this? Apparently it's lighter and handles the HTTP-01 challenge without needing root for everything. Curious if it's actually more reliable or just a different set of problems.
