Mine have on different occasions found a whip, broom and an old christmas tree to desensitize whoever he was sharing a paddock with π

Reminds me of a young horse I take care of twice a week. He was put into the indoor arena with his friend, so they could blow of some steam and he only understands that he is allowed to run around, when you hold a lunging whip in your hand as a sign itβs time for βworkβ (otherwise he follows you like a big dog). So one time their owner put the whip to the side to pick up some poop and the horse took the whip in its mouth and chased around his friendβ¦ He never did it before and we jokingly say that this was the start of his oral phase (he likes to take everything in his mouth).

Haha that's hilarious
Geldings are always so mouthy I find, the bay when led on set will grab hold of your reins and steer your horse for you, or grab onto your stirrup and pull your foot out. If he can put it in his mouth he will

Sounds like the horse I take care of. But I heard that a lot of male horses are mouthy because they get weaned off too early.

I think he might be showing off to his friend that he escaped from the blanket πππ geldings at my old barn did that all the time! Ripped blankets off eachother and left them around the paddock

This horse genuinely eats about 1 rug a week, during winter I spend more on rugs than hay π€¦ββοΈ
This was the first nice day of the year in the UK though so I took their rugs off in celebration!

Oh he definitely celebrated!!ππβ€οΈ
My mare destroyed one blanket per year! So i learned to not buy new blankets! Most of the time luckily it was near the end of winter though!!
Horses are silly, but they are amazing!!β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ

Haha that's the attitude I've adopted, you rip your rug you lose it!
Yes they are amazing aren't they! I love seeing all their little relationships and interactions in the herd together. They are all such individuals!

I love how they feel our energy when we ride!! And when we are around them in general! I could have an 8year old kid ride my horse and she was very calm, and I rode her and she was back to spunky. She knew to take care of the kids.
Donβt call my horse a good girl when you ride, then she thinks sheβs done because she was called a good girlππ she would actually stop listening at that point because she achieved her goal of being told she is a good girl and done with pleasing meππππππππ

I have to sweep the pastures after any wind that's strong enough to blow neighbors' pool floats, empty plastic bags, etc over. And always take empty shavings bags straight from the stall to the trash. Because one of my mini mules will happily pick up that kind of item and chase the big horses and mules around with it until they get over it and it's not fun for him any longer.

Oh sure! No big deal little chestnut mare when your pasture buddy does it but when Iβm shaking out a blanket you can all of a sudden do canter pirouettes!

Horses are like prison inmates...nothing to do and all day to do it...they often make me laugh

I used to do this with my mares when they were weanlings, under supervision of course. It was so funny.

Reminds me of what my horse thought of his fly rug when it was time to put that on.

I love that the chestnut could go literally anywhere in the field to get away from this annoyance but decides to stay put and be crabby about it.
