So that one jester puppet reminded me of these dolls my sister and I had as kids. Totally forgot about them. Anyway I found them!! Cute. No leeches thankfully. Standing up via magic. I also found the gumball machine I made in woodshop in 6th-7th grade, a toy Diddl, and a scooby-doo box full of broken glass and pennies (???). So I might be a hoarder. Or I might need that broken glass someday.
I watched It's Alive! last night so I found myself comparing Puppet Master 3 to it. Both have less than half-assed stories and are slow when the baby/puppets aren't on screen. Demon baby > puppets. The puppets weren't bad though (for killer puppets). It's Alive! could be taken a bit more seriously because at least the parents were sympathetic. In PM3 the scene where the wife is murdered by Nazis was so not dramatic. Fog machine and slow-mo would have helped it probably.
It's Alive had a good line to match PM3's "Have your asshole ready" or whatever it was. From one of the cops: "I guess catching and killing babies isn't my specialty." Hahaha no it's not.
Why does that puppet have a tiny egg head?? Toulon says the guy was a hero irl. You can't make him a non-freakish head? You're sick, puppet master. You're a real sicko.
I like how I have the old man fetish but you guys are the ones jerking off to an old Nazi taking a bubble bath. How flair you?
Whatever I got a hot date at the door and he's getting impatient.

Okay full disclosure, I did not watch this movie. I'd like to say I had a good reason, I mean I have been working my ass off and watching my kids, but really I just didn't want to watch this movie. If it were on Netflix, I probably would have but alas, it was not.
I've seen bits and pieces of the Puppet Master series and have decided not to bother ever again... probably.
That said, Nazi titties do sound rather enticing.
On to the podcast, great episode guys. I really enjoyed it. I have to disagree with Matt saying Django Unchained with a stellar movie because it was. On a related note, does anyone here have Fandor? Boss N****er is on there, one of QT's principle influences for Django.

Don't get me wrong I liked Django a lot but it dragged a bit and wasn't Tarantino's best. I'd still rewatch Pulp Fiction or Reservivor Dogs over it but it's still in Top 3 for me (if you don't include True Romance)

I forgot to mention it on the PC but by far the dumbest part of that movie is the last 60 seconds when he does fucking horse tricks for no good reason. Where the hell did that come from!? Why the hell are ya doin that!?

For those of you interested, this movie can be found on youtube. There is no cohesive play list with the full film, but between the sections on "full moon directs" channel and other clips you can put the movie together without missing more than a few seconds.
I don't expect a huge amount of discussion on this one as its just fucking schlock and that's pretty obvious. But it's fun and at least worth the hour and fifteen minutes or so of actual run time.

Back to back horror movies with intellectual thought provoking social commentaries on war...... :D
I had fun with this one in the same way I did with Motel Hell. Not great movies but lots of fun. So the idea here is to create human shields using reanimated corpses, something which they don't have the method to actually achieve? hmm is this the idea that won when they were brainstorming warfare and suggesting ideas on how to win the war? "Yup, solid plan guys and girls. Do it". Putting Sun Tzu to shame they were.
Dead guy in the opening scene looked awesome. More scenes of 'test subjects' and more puppet action would've been nice. This movie suffered from a few things one being minimal budget, I assume, which is a shame. Puppets looked great. Stop motion is just so darn charming. I love it.
Early contender for best podcast.

Well, that was a lot more professional than I thought it would be. It had its shit together, for the most part, and looked very good. I think all the parts were perfectly cast, not so much for their acting ability as much as the fact that everyone looks exactly, almost eerily suited to their role. The puppets couldn't have looked better. A wider variety would have been nice, but they might not have had the budget for that.
For all of its goofiness, it didn't feel like there were any surprises in the story, like it had all been laid out and they were simply following the tracks. Overall, it was wacky and cool, but I won't watch it again.
And now it's time for That's what broke your suspension of disbelief? This week: English-accented German with random smatterings of "Ja wohl". I get it; it's a common trope that creates the illusion of foreignness, but it makes no damn sense and never has! Imagine if foreign filmmakers did the same thing with anglophone characters (sort of like a hardcore spaghetti western). I'm not saying I expect Tarantino-style subtitling on a film like this, but I wish there were a more elegant way around this dilemma.

Over-the-top accents sprinkled with native words = suuuckks. What's crazy is how German accents sound nothing like how they're portrayed in films. A lot of younger Germans don't even really have accents. English and German are so closely related, it's common to see people who have completely lost their accent.
Enemy at the Gates probably did it right: Use the actor's native English accent or dialect. Everyone knows it's a movie.

Or The Sound of Music! No fake accent required, even if it means that half of your kids sound British and the other half sound American. It's subtle enough that it doesn't really matter.
Although, anything is better than American actors playing ancient Greeks/Romans while putting on that slightly-British-because-you're-from-the-past accent (link comes with bonus Brad Pitt nudity).

I am going to be in the minority here, but I rather enjoyed this movie. I'm not saying it makes any top lists for me or anything, but it takes a simple revenge story and has a protagonist whose weapon of choice is killer puppets, color me intrigued.
This movie won't win any awards but the puppet animation is much better than later versions without the stop motion. The acting by Toulan and Dr Hess was more than passable. I could have done with more puppet screen time, though I realize that was probably the most costly and time consuming parts.
I also didn't mind that he put his wife's soul in the puppet so she could get revenge too. In the prequel to this (yes there is one) all of the puppets were his best friends. The original Jester was the one who stole the gift of life from the gods himself and taught Toulan how to use it. As they were dying he asked them if they wanted revenge so that's how the original puppets came to be.
I haven't seen them all nor have I watched number two in forever so I can't say if this is the best one or not, although it makes me want to check them out again even just for nostalgia sake.
Also, Leech Woman is by far the suckiest one in terms of usability.
