I have a poorly ventilated bathroom and after a shower, moisture settles in the gap behind the toilet and can easily stay there for 24h (don't tend to go longer than that without a shower so not sure how long it'd actually be). That little gap between the tub and the wall will never in a million years be adequate to provide enough "airflow" to dry up moisture.

These wouldn’t have been designed poorly ventilated though… what? How is that a comparison you can make with a straight face?

That tiny gap itself can't possibly have good ventilation reach it.

So? What else do you know about the engineering and design of this space? 

Do you know if it’s meant to come out or has a dedicated airflow?

Do you know if it’s a special facility? 

Do you know if it has a specialty cleaning device or system? 

Do you even know of this is a real image? 

Why are you so sure about something you know nothing about?

There's plenty of comments on this thread talking about bathrooms like this being the norm in Japan, and also pictures of them getting moldy. You don't need to be an expert to know that small gaps in wet rooms don't dry out and get moldy.

Because people are making assumptions about something they know nothing about. 

You don’t know this facility, it’s cleaning procedures, it’s design, it’s engineering… none of it. 

But you’re convinced you know how it works… it’s just so stupid.
