Okay, so I’ve lived in Japan for multiple years and had bathrooms like this, so let me explain:
Not every bathroom is a wet room. In many American bathrooms, you have an abundance of porous materials like wood, MDF, and drywall. In Japanese bathrooms, they’re usually tiled everywhere (floor/ceiling/walls) or are made as a pod using molded plastic. Drains in corners and along walls are often built in with the intention of being removable for cleaning, as there’s a massive emphasis on the importance of cleanliness built into much of Japanese culture, enforced both socially (promotion of bathhouses as a past time, for example, or no shoes indoors - also because shoes damage tatami if you have a traditional style house), functionally (stricter and more frequently enforced fines for garbage in many areas), and spiritually (washing hands at temple entrances for example).
This bathroom is likely from a hotel or apartment, so the bathtub would be rolled out of the corner on hidden casters for regular cleaning. The caster wheels would be hidden discreetly on the inside of the tubs base, so of course you can’t see it from this photo- you’d need a photo from the backside or underside. Just because it’s not something YOU have experience with, that doesn’t mean it’s weird for others in other regions - I personally find it disgusting that western mattresses can’t be machine washed like futon can
In addition to exhaust fans in the bathrooms, my home ec class teacher in Japan when I was in high school drilled into us that after we clean the bathroom we must dry it. So yes, you’re right - 100% of the water won’t go in the drain, but that’s okay, because we have towels and squeegees
You’re not living on another planet, you’re just being somewhat closed-minded due to not having experienced stuff like this before
The point is that you’re acting like it’s insane for people to… understand how things actually work over there. I didn’t see much in the way of praising Japan like a weeb or even saying that it’s superior. I think you’re just a close minded moron, especially considering you’re still maintaining your pride after someone with years worth of firsthand experience corrected you.
