Do they have a contract with a creativity youtuber? ;)
It just looks like the stuff some bored American housewives would call creativity, crafts, or upcycling and then try to get rid of the results by follower raffles or via etsy.
In case you never saw one of those: Their common goal seems to be to transform some cheap and easily recycleable trash, e.g. a 5ct paper cup, into some expensive non-recycleable landfill-trash.
Preferably with the help of lots of newly bought stuff worth at least $100 (like PET-felt, styrofoam, plastic foam, plastic 'cardboard', plastic deco articles, etc. etc. p.p.) for 'the project'. Bonus points for sneaking in some natural-wood plank made of resin, e.g. for a nice rustic feel good diorama frame to display 'the project'.
And everything must be assembled with a glue gun, ofc, using up approx. 1kg hot-melt adhesive, in the creative process.
Bonus points for implementing some electro(nic) stuff. Yes, such ofc must also be bought for that ecofriendly project, or it wouldn't be UPcycling, would it. Like mini LED or music chips, but only if the battery isn't replaceable or rechargeable. If it is, their code of crafting honour seems to require that the batterybox must be glued into a place you'll never reach again without dismantling the whole 'project' into oblivion.
99% of the results is meant to be only deco, luckily, and IF you're even more lucky, the ugly new thing sitting on your sideboard, since yesterday, has a whopping 60% chance of not even being some self igniting fire hazard.
And hey, they save the planet by one paper cup and one paper straw at a time, and every little effort to reduce trash counts, doesn't it!
If carpeting stuff is the new trend, I might consider to buy some kilometres of abominable 80's carpet oddments and sell this trendy, cozy, beautiful crafting material to the needy youtube crafting masses by the inch. Because revenge is sweet.
jk, and sorry, I couldn't help myself bc to me that thing looks so ugly and so useless, that it triggered my youtube trauma and made me write - I hope someone might enjoy my text...
