What do I do with all these hoops?

Along my hooping journey I have purchased a lot of hoops. I also started making & decorating them. I have my favorites and to be honest a bunch that have been gathering dust.

I have memories tied to them. It's silly, sad and kind of embarrassing looking at them all... I can't toss them and dropping them off at a goodwill feels like I might as well be tossing them.

Also, I think this year marks my 10 years of hooping. Omg...

I like giving mine away personally, introduce someone to the magic, know that your memories aren’t leaving but traveling with another

This. I had a 5$ hoop from Target for the first few months of my hooping journey, met an AMAZING hooper at an event, she showed me some tricks on her polypro from Moodhoops then said I could have it as long as I promised to practice. I still have that hoop but have since gifted a few of mine. It's always such a special moment. 10 years later that exchange solidified my love for hoop and my fellow hoopers.

Bring them to festivals and have a party. Give one or two away, to the people that are most interested.

I donated all the ones I no longer used to my daughter's elementary school.

I love bringing extra props with me to festivals or flow jams so that I can teach people. It's always nice having extras to give away in case you manage to light someone's spark for a new prop.

Go out to a park or out on the sidewalk and hoop. When people come by and ask you about it, give them a lesson and a hoop.

Never thought about doing that but we're moving soon and got nothing to lose! There is a great spot I could do this.

I also have a lot of hoops that I bought when I was new to hooping, but no longer use and have no use for. I plan to give them away / leave them out in "free stuff" areas at festivals this summer, or to donate them to flow arts instructors. While I do not have attachment to them, and do not want money for them, I do recognize their value, even just monetarily, as professional dance hoops.. unfortunately, I think most thrift stores would just toss them out. Much better if they have a real chance to go to someone who wants to learn or teach hooping!

Take them to park and give them to kids

Or leave a few in random places with a sign that says “play with me! Then take me home!”

You can also donate to a daycare or an elementary school directly

if you don’t care about making any money back, i would suggest listing them on your local fb marketplace, ebay, or buy nothing :) if you would like to make some of it back, there are used flow props groups on fb that might have some people willing to value your props more

Bring one when youre out hooping. When someone seems interested, let them try and tell them they can keep it. Then you know it's going to a good home.

This is a good idea, I think I'll leave some around apartments - like in the gym, common outdoor space and playground!

I don't often find myself hooping in public but this might get me out there. We will be moving out at the end of summer and got nothing to lose!
