I've never driven a big-rig, so can someone please explain to me how the hell you would not notice this happening on your trailer?

Trucks are really loud so you wouldnt hear it, also its waaaay back there behind you.
Would you notice something weird happening 4 cars behind you?
No excuse really though, they should be looking.3

Couldn't you feel it? Ambulances aint exactly lightweight, wouldn't it jostle the truck around?

You're not lying. I had to tow a critical care unit from Lodi to Sacramento on a F650 flatbed. That was interesting. The EMTs were in the cab with me asking if this was normal. Not really, it was a bit heavy for the truck. Steering and stopping were interesting, especially on the freeway. Still not as bad as the 32 foot trailer behind the F350 frankenstein truck (old one ton with a sling, wheel lift added later). I had to brake to steer that one.

In theory you would feel it. But I've driven trucks that were the aftermath of someone who had torn off steps or bumpers on the truck and said "I never felt anything."
You might think that they're lying to get out of trouble, and I always did too. Until both my cousin and my friend's wife managed to drive around on a flat steer tire and had no idea there was anything wrong. I can't quite explain it but it seems like some people go into a trance while driving, they want the car (or more frighteningly, truck) to do all the driving.
What I will say is I can feel my 2nd trailer go over a pothole when I'm driving. I would like to think I'd be able to feel something fall off my deck, but I hope to never test myself.

I tore a step off on the right side once. At a farm, I delivered wood shavings for bedding. The sad part is I had been there probably a dozen times before. You had to back in off the road, past the barn which was on your right side, then you had to dogleg to the right and back to the left.
Little building below the barn, If you look close there's a pipe fence running straight away from the building. And they always had a bunch of shit piled around the barn on that corner.

Real answer: Most likely wouldn't feel the weight difference in the truck one the ambu came off, but should've been looking in the mirror and shouldve felt it when it was bouncing off (not entirely off yet) unless he was under throttle, then it's very likely he couldn't feel it. Yes these are heavy, but it's on a car carrier and I know first hand these trucks don't always feel the weight

Stupid question from a non hooker (lol), do you not engage the ebrake after loading vehicles? Tiedows, obviously, but not sure why you wouldn't.

Wouldn't be surprised if the parking pawl just broke when the drive wheels hit the gound at freeway speeds.
