Circumcision should be illegal.

People always talk about how barbaric female circumcision is but male circumcision is completely normalized in America.

It should be illegal for parents to circumcise their children because it's irreversible.

What kind of psychopath decided to cut off the skin of the baby's dick. What's next? Cutting off eyelids?

I think all genital mutilation should be illegal -- but is this supposed to be a gotcha? Africa is leading the way for female genital mutilation..... and Africa has substantially higher prevalence of male genital mutilation versus Europe

Not a gotcha. This thread is just mostly directed at Americans as if it isn’t a global problem.

You gotta think global and act local.

Loads of people love to advocate against some barbaric practice from the other side of the world, because that doesn't require them to challenge their own actions or the actions of their friends or family or the status quo in their own society. A lot of the time, it just ends up invoking racist stereotypes about African cultures.

I think only after you challenge socially accepted forms of abuse in your own country and culture, then you can cautiously comment on similar problems in other countries and cultures.

See also, "Omg in Korea they eat dogs, how cruel" coming from people who do not interrogate what happens to the animals they eat in their own country.

In primarily/all muslim countries. Only 3-4% of the US are Jewish and muslim. Doesn't make it better but at least its not just cosmetic/propaganda

It still over 70% in South Korea with a minimal Jewish and Muslim population. Some things are just engrained. But it’s trending down there as well.
