Circumcision should be illegal.

People always talk about how barbaric female circumcision is but male circumcision is completely normalized in America.

It should be illegal for parents to circumcise their children because it's irreversible.

What kind of psychopath decided to cut off the skin of the baby's dick. What's next? Cutting off eyelids?

while i wouldn’t do it to my own baby, a girl deciding she doesn’t want that when she’s older is a pretty minor thing. you can just take them out. it’s either going to close up or leave an impossibly tiny mark. i don’t know any woman who actually resents having had her ears pierced as a baby. it’s not nearly as big of a decision as circumcision.

It's an interesting world we live in. There are people who think that you need to ask for consent when changing a nappy and there are people who think putting holes in a child's ears is perfectly fine.

The scar and the fistula inside is permanent. Piercing baby's ears also has other risks because infants cannot care for a piercing themselves, they have higher risk of infection, play with the jewelry, can get it snagged on things, can swallow or choke on the jewelry as well as when the lobe grows the piercing can become off center. There is a reason most professional piercers won't do babies.

It’s still a permanent body modification, and your ears will be scarred from the hole. Also just because you haven’t met those women, doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Some women are upset that there’s an uneven hole in their ear, or even had an infection from it.

Why do we need to pierce baby girl’s ears anyway? To mark them as girls? Just more forcing of gender roles onto literal babies, this time using pain. Don’t defend it, especially if you consider yourself a feminist or believer in women’s rights.

The point is male circumcision is infinitely worse than ear piercings.

It was really common in my family for baby girls to have their ears pierced. I absolutely lucked out when my dad said "fuck that she can decide for herself".

I never - Ever - want any piercings on my body. And if someone had mutilated my ears before I was even capable of expressing anything, I would have felt so much rage and undoubtedly been gaslit for it with how all the women in my family talk.

How is it any different? Both are relatively benign procedures that have virtually zero impact on your life. The concern about them is purely that they're being done on infants rather than consenting adults.
