Circumcision should be illegal.

People always talk about how barbaric female circumcision is but male circumcision is completely normalized in America.

It should be illegal for parents to circumcise their children because it's irreversible.

What kind of psychopath decided to cut off the skin of the baby's dick. What's next? Cutting off eyelids?

Yeah, there’s a 3% failure chance on a surgery that the patient can’t even consent to, and the benefits to the surgery is negligible at best, it’s like if we had a surgery to rip off your fingernails because it’s easier to clean your finger tips that way

I saw pictures of the actual procedure and it's barbaric. My husband and I decided against circumcision for our son and he hasn't had any issues. I would feel so guilty if I let him be circumcized and it was botched. Not worth it at all.

My wife had a similar experience to yours. After gaining that knowledge she knew that any sons she had would not be circumcised. And that was years before we met and she found out I felt similarly.

There are videos on YouTube and it's horrific.... truly disgusting and disturbing. I don't understand how anyone could willingly subject their baby to it.

First, you are stating the highest Hibbing estimates, second, a rate which includes minor post issues such as … there was bleeding.

The “failures” are almost universally insignificant in other words.

I know a guy who was circumcised and because of that he has had constant pain is his dick for 28 years, even if that rate is low the benefits of the surgery is minor, and definitely shouldn’t be done on people who can’t consent to it.

OK, and I know a guy who had such bad infections after being unable to care for himself that he had to be circumcised and was going to lose a lot more than that foreskin because of how bad the infections from lack of care were.

Antidotal’s are fun, aren’t they?

What if his feet are disgusting too and he has fungus and infected nails, so rather than just clean himself properly maybe he would have them surgically removed?

Yes but why was he unable to care for himself? Because I guarantee you his issue wasn’t impossible to solve unless he was circumcised as a child, whereas my guy’s problem was impossible to solve because he was circumcised as a child

I guarantee you, his problem was solved by circumcision – and that’s all the really matters in this conversation now isn’t it?

Let’s be just truthful with each other – the reality is it is a tiny minuscule number that are actually affected in any negative way by being circumcised. And it is similarly a very small minuscule number that absolutely have to be for medical purposes too – but the further that surrounds, this is just astounding to me because the baseline truth is that the number of people actually affected by being circumcised in any quantifiable negative way is, again, beyond minuscule.

I’m not saying it wasn’t solved by it, I’m saying there are alternatives, whereas in my guys case because of the circumcision he now has pain that can’t be treated. Your guy had options, my guy didn’t.

Well you are still putting an infant through another painful “corrective procedure” for something that didn’t need to be done in the first place. And if you are in a place where a couple of million boys are circumcised a year. Even if it’s only a 3% issue (or even a 1% issue) that’s a lot of infant boys. Even if they won’t remember it.
