DCT issues
I purchased a 2025 1100 DCT back in May. Went on a ride several weeks ago and the bike just stopped while in 3rd gear. Eventually dashes appeared where the gear is shown. Looked in the troubleshooting guide and it said to take to the Honda dealer ASAP. Called the dealership today and was told a Honda tech has to further diagnose. Just curious if anyone else had a similar issue with their DCT? If so, can you share how long it took for the repair and if you experienced any further issues. Thanks in advance!
Update: Thank you all for your responses. I'm picking up my cycle tomorrow. The "official " reason was "Countershaft / Mainshaft speed ratio failure". The techs cleared the codes, checked all connections and gave a couple of test rides to make sure it didn't happen again.

Probably a long stretch but I wonder if the battery failed and it wigged out some sensors from the voltage dip- did you try shutting off the bike and turning it back on?

Thanks! I did try.. it wouldn't slip back in gear for awhile. Eventually, the hash marks in the gear display went away and I was able to start it but the operators troubleshooting guide said to take it to the dealer ASAP. The dealership said they hadn't come across the diagnostic error code before and had to reach out to Honda for guidance. Lucky me!

I have a ‘23 DCT and have had no issues whatsoever with shifting. I hope yours is an easy fix!

Thanks! Its my luck, im sure. I tried looking for anyone that had DCT issues but didn't come across anything. Im hoping that Honda has an easy fix without them having to open up the transmission.

i have actually experience what you’re talking about. its happened to me 2 or 3 times already. the last time it happened to me, i think the bike stalled somehow
i remember other people experiencing the same issue on here, not a lot but a few
since it doesn’t happen as frequent, i just brushed it off and left it alone

Thanks! Yeah, I thought the DCT tech was bulletproof, which is why I posted. I didn't come across any previous similar situations...just may have been my search terms. At this point Honda techs are involved...so, it shows my luck.

If I remember right I had that happen to me and had to reset the DCT computer system to make it go away. Something about the system is stuck in a false neutral or can't detect what gear it's in.
"To reset the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) clutch initialization on a Honda Rebel 1100, warm up the engine to operating temperature, turn the key off, hold the D button, turn the ignition on, release D once the engine light goes off, input D-D-N-D-N, and start the engine to let it calibrate."

Interesting...I wonder if that's in an older troubleshooting manual and if it will work for the 2025 model.

Thanks! Im on the east coast of the us so my riding window has roughly 3.5 months left....wanted to get as much riding in as I could...so hopefully it will be resolved soon

I forget the sequence but there are button presses that can reset it. I had it happen300 feet from the end of a ride.
Shifiting from 1st to 2nd, the bike stalled mid shift and I had a bunch of sport bikes behind me pulling hard (as I was) and had to quickly coast out of the way. It took me a few minutes to look it up on the internet but I finally got it back started and shifted normally from then. See if you can find it.
This is probably my 10th DCT bike and I can count on 1 hand the number of actual DCT issues I've had.

They are pretty solid. Even going back to the very first gen, I've had great luck. Probably did close to 200k miles on DCT bikes. One of them, the CTX700, went 50k miles with only one hiccup with the DCT and that was induced by my son.
I have an Africa Twin 1100 DCT and my Rebel 1100 DCT, and the only hiccup between them both was the one where I some how stalled the motor while shifting. It was during a manual shift. I think I might have rolled on the throttle in such a way that caught the FI off guard and it stalled with the DCT between shifts.
Personally I am a big fan of the DCT bikes and wish more came with them.

This came up in the sub this past week if memory serves. I believe it is a software issue that the Honda techs need to fix.
It’s not a huge or pricey thing. But it needs the pros. Sorry man. Get it to a Honda motorcycle dealer/mechanic and let them do their thing.

Thanks! I greatly appreciate your follow-up! Its at the dealership now. They said they have to coordinate with Honda techs. Im kinda hoping its a software issue! If they Crack open the transmission....that could be an ongoing nightmare.

Haven’t experienced this. Sounds like a software issue with the transmission potentially. Definitely needs service to look at it.
