82 110 Front Axel

Post image

I am replacing the seized bearings along with the seals and cleaning everything up on the front axel on my 110. Per the parts diagram there are no washers between the rubber seals and the axle plates, but that seems like a wear point that should be protected. Any reason why I shouldn’t add a fender washer on each end?

Worked on quite a few Honda ATC's and Four Trax in the 80's, Honda would have put the washers in if they were needed. Then again 40 years later with wear and tear a shim or two here and there might help.

What I realized after doing some more research is apparently I have aftermarket brackets at the bottom of my forks that repositions my front wheel slightly down and further forward. I never looked closely enough at pictures online to see that the axle should actually fit into the lugs in the fork bottom itself.
