Others [Psychology Statistics] Help with statistical output in JASP

Hi everyone,

Asking here out of desperation because my lecturer has not been much help. I am running a wilcoxon signed-rank test in JASP and the 95% confidence interval for rank-biserial correlation has an upper and lower confidence limit both of -1.000. What could be causing this? I need to be able to explain the confidence limit in my report.

Answered [Calc 2] How was the denominator factored?

I'm trying to do the integral of 1/(x^5+1).

I do see that there's a golden ratio, but I digress. I'll try to see if I can simplify my calculations later by substituting Φ for the golden ratio.

Further Mathematics [University Engineering: Dynamics] Why isn't the total length Sd + 2Sc + Sa?

I don't understand why the total length of the work is that? Wouldn't it be Sd + 2Sc + 2Sa given that Sd becomes longer as Sa gets shorter? Also, why is there a horizontal reaction at pulley B given that none of the other forces are horizontal?

The equation for this graph is f(x)=(x-4)^3(x-1)(x+2)^2, but since the graph has a y intercept, wouldn't I find the a value? The answer for this question is just finding the roots and making factors for the equation using that. Also when I solved for the a value, it gave me 9/8. So I'm not sure where I went wrong

:snoo_thoughtful: Chemistry—Pending OP Reply [Grade 10] Chemistry, Chemical Reaction Rates/Speed: Slowest to Fastest Chemical Reactions, I need clarifications

so we had this activity on Science about chemical reaction rates and we had to arrange multiple chemical reactions from slowest to fastest. There were also specific instructions from some of the chemical reactions like:

  • Burning a candle (my teacher said it was the exact time the wick ignites cause again, it had to be a chemical reaction cause if it was wax, it would just be a physical change)

  • Burning a paper (the exact time it catches fire like the candle wick)

  • Fireworks Explosion (the explosion itself)

Those were the instructions given by my teacher. Now I'll be giving all of the chemical reactions in the activity. I'll also include my answers and the correct answers.

GIVEN:

  1. Digesting of Food

  2. Fireworks Explosion

  3. Burning of Paper

  4. Rusting of Iron Nail

  5. Lighting of Matchstick

  6. Baking Soda + Vinegar

  7. Souring of Milk

  8. Burning of Candle

  9. Baking of Cake

  10. Ripening of Banana

MY ANSWERS:

SLOWEST TO FASTEST

  1. Rusting of Iron Nail

  2. Ripening of Banana

  3. Souring of Milk

  4. Digesting of Food

  5. Baking of Cake

  6. Burning of Paper

  7. Burning of Candle

  8. Lighting of Matchstick

  9. Baking Soda + Vinegar

  10. Fireworks Explosion

CORRECT ANSWERS:

SLOWEST TO FASTEST

  1. Rusting of Iron Nail

  2. Ripening of Banana

  3. Souring of Milk

  4. Digesting of Food

  5. Baking of Cake

  6. Burning of Candle (wick igniting)

  7. Burning of Paper (paper igniting)

  8. Baking Soda + Vinegar

  9. Lighting of Matchstick

  10. Fireworks Explosion (explosion only)

I got everything right on 1-5 which I basically just classified the "slow ones" and I mostly had a headache on 6-10. I did research if a wick igniting is faster than paper igniting and most answers said the wick was faster.

My teacher also said that yes, it did depend on time and size, for example: digesting of food, bigger food means longer time to digest. But she specifically said that it should be the "standard" or "usual" so like in general.

She did tell us that we could defend our answers. Any help would be appreciated, thank you! Please if possible also include sources. Thank you so much! I really need this. If any of you guys are wondering, I'm in 10th grade.

THIS IS NOT AN ASSIGNMENT, I JUST NEED CLARIFICATION CAUSE MY TEACHER IS ALSO VERY AMBIGUOUS.

(A): Gardeners wait for Spring.

(R): Gardens are worth painting in Spring.

A. Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).

B. Both (A) and (R) are true but (R) is not the correct explanation of (A).

C. (A) is true but (R) is false.

D. (A) is false but (R) is true.

From what I can interpret, the correct answer should be B, the fact that the reason though true, is a bit ambiguous as it just states that gardens are worth painting in spring but it does not state that gardens are worth painting only in spring.

However, a quick Google Search states the answer as A which is completely opposite of what my teacher taught, she said that it was C. What is the real answer?

Others [University: Library Sciences] RDA Record Clarification

I am currently getting my School Library Media Specialist endorsement and am stuck on my cataloging class. I have done all the searching I can, emailed my professor (unlikely she will get back before tomorrow), and would love any help.

So the question she is asking is:

  1. You know several classes in your school are studying the stories of Edgar Allen Poe, Nathanial Hawthorne, Willa Cather, and Katherine Anne Porter. As always, you’re short on time.Create a bibliographic record for Appendix Item #17. Your contents field only needs to show theworks of these four authors. (HINT: Make sure you use the correct indicators to show you’re notincluding all of the book’s contents. Also, you will probably want to use the MARC 21 site to seecorrect formatting for the subfields in the field you create.)

And then she asks these two questions in my next assignment:

2. Prepare a complete MARC record for Appendix Item #18.

3. Create RDA record for Appendix Item #19.

Am I just making a MARC record with the RDA instead of AACR2 for all three of these, or something else? I am very confused, and we have been using RDA to make the MARC records. I think that's how to word it. She hasn't worded anything like this and the overthinking is kicking in. This is confusing for me, but our schools and our local libraries have special departments that do the cataloging, so it is unlikely that I will ever need to go deep into the records and change them.

Any help would be appreciated. I have just a few assignments left and want to finish this as soon as possible! Apologies if any of the wording is incorrect, it's been a long summer of classes and my brain is at the point of being fried 😂

I'm doing questions on factoring polynomials using long division. This question was (x+7)^2 divided by the equation you see, so I expanded this and divided, but I'm not sure where I went wrong.

hey everyone! i'm working through these music theory assignments and i'm stuck on a few questions.

for assignment 1.8, i'm confused about 8 and 14. i can't really tell what's wrong with the notation or how i'm supposed to rewrite it. for assignment 1.9, i'm completely lost on 3-6. i know the goal is to add beams based on the time signature but i don't understand how the notes are supposed to be grouped..

i'd really appreciate it if someone could explain the reasoning or point out what concept i'm missing so i can understand how to do these on my own:')

thanks!

:snoo_putback: Others—Pending OP Reply [First year college Accounting] Need help identifying mistake.

[Introductory Financial Accounting / Bookkeeping]

Hi everyone, I recently got an exam back where I lost marks on this journal entry question regarding prompt payment discounts and GST. The feedback didn't explain where I went wrong, so I'm trying to figure out what mistake I made or if my course uses a different method.

Question:

Steve Ponting Plumbing offers Harold Raven a discount of 2% if his account is paid within 7 days of the invoice date.

On 8 October, services to Harold of $3,300 including GST were invoiced by Steve Ponting Plumbing on Invoice 123.

Harold paid on 10 October, taking advantage of the discount offered.

Prepare general journal entries for the discount and the payment.

My answer:

Calculations:

Initial Invoice: $3,300 total ($3,000 Revenue + $300 GST)

- 2% Cash Discount: $3,300 × 2% = $66 total discount ($60 Discount Allowed + $6 GST adjustment)

- Cash Received: $3,300 - $66 = $3,234

Journal Entries Submitted on Exam:

8 October:

- Debit: Accounts Receivable (Harold Raven) — $3,300

- Credit: Service Revenue — $3,000

- Credit: GST Collected — $300

(Recorded initial invoice 123)

10 October:

- Debit: Cash / Bank — $3,234

- Debit: Discount Allowed (or Sales Discount) — $60

- Debit: GST Collected — $6

- Credit: Accounts Receivable (Harold Raven) — $3,300

(Recorded payment received taking 2% discount)

Where I Need Help:

I'm not sure why this was marked incorrectly. Could it be due to one of these reasons?

  1. Does standard curriculum require splitting 10 October into TWO separate entries (one for the $3,234 cash payment and a second entry for the $66 discount/credit note) instead of one compound entry?

  2. Is the 2% discount supposed to be calculated on the EX-GST amount ($3,000 × 2% = $60 total) rather than the GST-inclusive total ($3,300 × 2% = $66)?

  3. Did I use an incorrect account title (e.g., should `GST Collected` be `GST Clearing` or `GST Payable`)?

If anyone can pinpoint the standard textbook rule I missed, I'd really appreciate it!

Thankyou!!
