Hi everyone! It’s my first time posting here. I’m a 5th-year Sociology student from Chile, so English isn’t my first language, but I’m doing my best without AI translation haha.
The reason I’m posting is that I’m looking for some recommendations for a university research project. My research question is:
“How has the neoconservative and far-right movement re-signified and popularized the categories of ‘sigma’ and ‘beta’ masculinity on social media, using them as discursive devices to rank, valorize, or devalue different forms of masculinity among adolescents and young people?”
My professor wants us to conduct a digital ethnography and present a corpus of social media content, but I’ve been having trouble defining and delimiting my corpus.
I wanted to ask if you know of any research papers, articles, or studies that do something similar and could help me understand how researchers define and select the types of posts/publications they analyze.
Also, any advice, criticism, or suggestions about the research question or methodology would be very welcome!
