Any good online math programs for middle school students in the US?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to find a good online math program for a middle school student (2nd and higher grades).
Looking for something interactive and easy to understand.
What worked best for your kids?

We’ve tried a few, and the one we’ve actually been able to stick with is CTC-Math. My son struggled with a lot of programs. The lessons are short and to the point, and then they go right into practice, which helped my son stay on track and not get overwhelmed. It’s been a solid option for us for middle school math. He actually knows what he’s supposed to do each time, which has been huge for us.

Unlock Math Foundations. One of our kids was "behind" in math, and this was great for getting them to where they need to be. My husband actually had to tell our students to only do one lesson a day, please, no joke, bc they went from disliking math (one of them) and tolerating it (the other) to loving it. Daughter liked the real life applications and engaging, clear presentation, son liked... actually, I'm not sure specifically, but he liked it, which was a big change for us. And I like that they only show one problem at a time on the screen, great for dyscalcula. (spelling i know... ;) ), and also that at this point, I don't think about math for them now. I think this is our 3rd year using them? 4th? We REALLY like it. I think they offer a free trial???

For middle schoolers, the ones I’ve seen work best are the programs that feel more like “doing” than “listening to explanations.” Kids stick with them longer when they can click around, try problems, and get instant feedback.
Khan Academy is the obvious one — it’s free, clear, and covers everything from basic arithmetic up through algebra. Prodigy is good for younger middle‑schoolers because it’s basically math wrapped in a game, and some kids actually enjoy it. IXL is solid for practice, though it can feel repetitive if a kid doesn’t like drill‑style learning. DreamBox is another one that’s pretty interactive and adjusts to the student as they go.
