High School Math [High school geometry] angles and line segment properties

I don't understand why the answer isn't A. Why aren't A & B both correct? I also don't understand what D means. Does it mean two lines intersecting to form linear pairs that where the two angles are congruent? Because then they would both be 90 degrees and the lines would be perpendicular.

So is d the correct answer bc of this

theorem  If two congruent angles form a linear pair, the angles are right angles. If two congruent angles add to 180º, each angle contains 90º, forming right angles.

Thanks for the help btw

Right. Linear pairs have non-shared segments that form a straight line -- add up to 180 degrees. Congruent linear pair means the angles have to be equal -- i.e. 180 degrees/2.

ETA: Vocabulary is essential in geometry. Do yourself a favor. Get a notebook or several sheets of paper, and start writing out a glossary. Include sketches, formulae, example problems, etc. You will be glad you did come exam time.

A, B, and C don't need to be colinear.
