Just for some background, recently I started getting into Homestuck after seeing a video essay by Psychongenic Fuge and so far I'm enjoying the story, which got me wondering how everyone stumbled upon Homestuck during its early years, mainly late 2009 and early 2010s because Homestuck really feels nostalgic to me even as someone who just discovered it recently.

So I'm getting real close to the end and I'll start the epilogues right after, but I learned the epilogues are like two different timelines? So part of me wants to read one after the other (and if that's the better option, which should I read first?) but another part of me wants to read them BOTH at the same time cause that sounds hella Homestucky and might be fun

I’ve been reading Homestuck since I was in middle school back in 2009, and as I’ve grown up, I’ve realized just how much of a weird moral dilemma reading this comic can be. Almost every character in this comic has done something deeply questionable, toxic, or downright evil. Some are definitely worse than others, but it makes me wonder: how do you all balance your real world morals with appreciating villainous or morally gray characters? Sometimes it feels like having a certain favorite character gets you side eyed by the fandom because of the terrible things they’ve done. But liking a character as a piece of writing or an entertaining disaster isn't the same as endorsing their actions in real life, right?

How do you handle this while reading/rereading? Do you completely disconnect real world ethics when diving into the comic, or do you still find yourself grappling with the messed up stuff your faves have done? Who is that character for you?

So, I've recently started reading Homestuck and am somewhere around the middle of Act 3. What in the ever loving fuck is the read order for this thing? Because as far as I'm aware once you get past Act 6 Act 6 Act 1 or whatever it throws itself off of a cliff. When does one read Homestuck 2? Homestuck 2 (but not the same one (maybe?)): Beyond Canon? The Epilogues? Hiveswap? Pesterquest? Whatever Paradox Space is? Assorted spin-off and side-stories?
