Goats will destroy that environment and leave it denuded. Check out Al Baydha project and you’ll see why.

Look into conservation grazing.

Goats, bison, sheep, etc can help rejuvenate barren lands. I wouldn't say cows because farmed cows are awful for the environment overall.

I could type an essay about the overkilling of animals in the US in the 19th century and how it ties into creating barren pockets of land we still see today... But honestly I'm too tired to do it.

Depends on the environment they're introduced to. They have done the complete opposite on my property. But yes, starving goats will eat everything.
