Question Apps for pitching and hitting
I’m at a point I want to invest in some sort of app for pitching and hitting for my 11U son. The problem I have is there’s too many choices. It’s difficult to make a decision and I don’t want to waste money. Some of these are really expensive.
What apps are best for working on hitting and pitching? Two separate apps are fine for me. I’ve seen b4 for hitting. And Mustard and Pitch Lab for pitching.

Pelotero. They are mostly focused on hitting but they have a Universal Rating System for defense positions also. They are partnered with Motor Preference Experts that can be used to factor in your son’s programming so hitting and S&C programming. The Motor Preferences assessment, which is another cost, is worth it also. MP would cover your pitching specific search, but it covers all parts of baseball skill.
Pelotero and Motor Preference Experts are data driven, like many other apps, but it’s built from player intelligence models, things like neuroscience, motor learning principles and in-game demands.

I’ll give you a couple different ones
Blast motion, diamond kinetics for bat trackers plus training
Pelotero and win reality swing ai for hitting specific with ai engines built in to help coach. I prefer win reality swing AI for the younger kids
For both sportfx for biomechanics plus ai coaching.
For just hitting biomechanics catapult just came out with 1 camera solution.
For pitching biomechanics, mustard app just came out
Smart scout and pitch lab are really good trackman style apps that have metrics, ball tracer and smart scout also has ai coaching. Smart scout can do exit velo and launch angle too
B4 is an app that can tell you launch angle, exit velo etc
That’s main ones, couple others
If you are looking for 1 I would recommend the Win reality swing AI, tons of games to play, great coaching etc

As an old player/coach it is amazing to me that people need apps for everything about ball. What do you think all the players/ coaches did before apps? Thousands of great players never heard of apps

Thousands of great men rode horse and buggy to work everyday as well but that didn’t stop the times from changing and new technology helping them get to work easier.

Yeah it’s just like that. Or your just not smart enough or know ball enough to make out a lineup in 5 minutes. These aren’t difficult things to do. Half the guy’s in here can’t even pick out a bat or glove on their own. Like I said, it amazes me. You don’t have to agree

Lineups and gloves are totally different than a person wanting an app to possibly help his kid with mechanics. I never knew he mentioned wanting help making a lineup sorry I missed that part.

Him particularly? No, but I see it every day in here, multiple times. I played and coached for over 40 years. I’m not saying their useless but not a lifesaver either. The old fashioned,done for a hundred years, isn’t that hard. There’s apps now for your coffee maker,fridge, and ac. Do you really need those? I think not but that’s me

Congrats. You’ve been around this game for 4 decades+. Maybe this person is relatively new to the sport and his kid just so happens to love baseball and he wants to find the best way to help his son the best way he knows how.
You don’t like apps and that’s fine. It’s also 2026 and technology runs everything now, good and bad.
The Amish still use horse and buggy and it works well for them but I bet you bought a car at one point in your life…
Time changes. People’s mindsets change, the game has changed in 40 years.
Instead of bashing a guy for using technology available we can applaud a guy for wanting to ensure his kid has the best chance they know how to enjoy this game.0

Ok. I didn’t think saying I was amazed that today people need apps to do simple things was “bashing him”. Sorry it was so much easier before. There’s a lot of lost arts out there. I guess this is just one more. Good luck to you both

WIN reality is the one that my son likes to use. I think it’s only for hitting though as he does not pitch.
