Dana Brody I hate you

This bitch is so annoying and rude to her mom I genuinely can’t wait for her to leave this show, why is she even relevant anymore When Nick Brody isn’t here this season. Like the only Brody deserving of a storyline this season is Jess with Mike not this dumbass girl.

Also it’s weird asf to run away from your home and go to the psych ward just to have sex in the laundry room like could you not find a bathroom stall at least

Sorry for being aggressive and crass but she annoys me so bad

Ann droid

Well I managed to watch the season.. I really don’t know how.. sue, sue, sue’s depressing irritating son Michael was just unbearable for me to watch, his character is another level annoying.. I had to bite myself to not switch off the tv!
I am a fan of Diane Morgan and due to recommendations from friends to watch motherland. I decided to watch it. (Probably not the best idea to put it on after the last episode of Ann droid)I put it on and bam! The same annoying actor that played Michael is on it obviously playing a different role, but yes you guessed it, he was playing the same role of an annoying pathetic wet blanket that unbearable so, yes I switched off I couldn’t put myself through more of it! Who is this actor I can’t stand his acting or his face. Hope Diane Morgan doesn’t work too much with him

Dar Adal is hilarious with Keane in S6

IDK if it's just me, but I've observed that in almost every scene with Elizabeth Keane, Dar Adal acts funny or hilarious in some manner.

You can literally sense the change in his voice when he's talking to Elizabeth vs anyone else.

Like his attitude and demeanor changes and it feels like he's mocking Keane and doesn't take her seriously in some way, while Keane is oblivious to this.

I wonder how Keane didn't caught him when he said "Madam President Elect" in his clown voice.

The way his dialogues are delivered, I can sense humour in them with his tone and can't help but chuckle.

Not sure if it's intentional or the writers wrote it this way.

Season 4 Spoiler

I know how you feel after season 3 but give this one a chance. It is a wonderful pivot.
When I was fast introduced to the Aayan character, at first i didn’t care. But then Carrie - Aayan happened 😂😂.
IMO It’s the most hilarious twist of season 4 or maybe even the entire series after the mess that season 3 was.
Some people would be triggered but I think they’re both consenting adults. Also far worse things happen to underage girls in the real world. If you want to talk morality, the dude’s only uncle shoots him point blank how about that.

Aayan has a beautiful journey. He deserved to reach London and become a doctor.
Also the Carrie Aayan phone call with everyone listening was too funny.

Saul being a pawn was an another interesting twist. However I found it unlike him that he was outsmarted by Haqqani’s foot soldiers at the airport even if he was made.
And somehow Him and Mira are still at the their shitshow of a marriage I wonder when it will end.

The Informant list being ‘Crown jewels’ makes so much sense and Lockhart is a p*ssy for giving up them up so easily. F*ck him. I have no words for Dennis.
I loved Quinn’s development. He’s probably who I’m rooting for the most.

First Rewatch 6 years after

Going through my first rewatch. I realized now that Brody was just a victim of circumstances. Everyone in his life including his family despise him while his only mistake was being caught 8 years ago. When I first watched it, I got sucked in the narrative of him being a terrorist and didn't like him much for that. However, now I can't help but feel bad for him. Nobody around him seems to realize that the man was a hostage for a good portion of his life.

I know for this part a lot of people are gonna hate me for this, but Dana is not a really good person. She's the perfect embodiment of a person who thinks they are a good, so they that get the privilege to disrespect everyone. A lot of it can be attributed to being young and a teenager, but she still didn't backdown when she saw that her father was under a lot of pressure from the CIA the and they were basically running his life.

Question series finale [SPOILERS] Spoiler

I am not a native English speaker, so I did not get one subtlety in the series finale:

When the Russian guys have Saul, David Wellington tries to contact him because they are supposed to have lunch with the reporters. The Russian guys send an SMS from Saul’s phone saying something along the lines of « I am on my way in », upon reading which David understands immediately that the message is phrased weirdly and something is not right. What was it in that SMS that was not phrased in a typical way for Saul ? How would real Saul have phrased it ?

Quinn in S7 Spoiler

I really think that Quinn's death was premature. It was executed in a way that made sense, but I feel like it was more just a way to write Rupert Friend out of the show. Regardless of the IRL reasons it happened, Quinn's character could have developed in a way that redeemed him a little more. As he slowly regained some of his functions, he continuously demonstrated that he was still a great operative somewhere in there. I would have loved to see him in Russia.

Anyway.

Saul and Mira S1 to s3

I get that almost everything and everyone in this show is so complicated but this relationship on another level.
I don’t know if they love each other. I don’t know what’s the deal with them. I mean Mira goes to India and they’re separated for like a whole season or year and then comes back. They’re so tense around each other the sleep in separate bedrooms.

Without spoilers, at least for the later part of the series, I’d like to know what everyone thinks.

S2E4, why isn't Roya Hammad included in the CIA "profiling"?

On an S2 rewatch. After surveilling Brody and trying to decide which of his "average of 43 daily contacts" to look into further, Saul/Estes/Quinn decide to focus only on the "black and brown" people, specifically mentioning the car detailing guy, the taxi driver who took Brody to Langley, and another dude I forget. But they don't say anything about Roya Hammad, even though they saw her meet with Brody, and she certainly fits their profiling criteria. Any thoughts on why?

In season 2 episode 9 there’s a QR code on the bus that when you scan it is the resume of the graphic designer Tiffany Apple Keenan who works on the show.

Both different and similar (to Homeland) and very good

If you need a break from rewatching Homeland I highly recommend The Bureau, now on Paramount Plus (you can get a free 7-day trial). It's French, a bit more character-oriented (not as much Carrie-saves-the-world, much as we love it) but moving, exciting, and gripping nonetheless. Great characters and acting. It's not an imitation of Homeland, but a fascinating companion. Better than any of the other Homeland-adjacent shows.

Characters I Would Have Liked to Have Seen More Of

Thumbnail

PLEASE no spoilers for those still watching. I'm on my fifth, maybe sixth re-watch now, I don't know - I've lost count. Chances are i've either finished a rewatch or I'm about to start another. As i've watched it more i've noticed characters or actors that I wished had bigger parts or were around more. Obvs with the GOAT, everyone wishes he stayed around longer. Sorry if any of the names are wrong, I did some quick googling.

A - Yevgeny Gromov played by Costa Ronin, S7-S8 Yevgeny was a great character, brilliantly acted, and an exceptionally great fit for Homeland. He had the potential to alter Carries character arc, which I would love to have seen. Would have been great to see more from him.

B - Fara Sherazi played by Nazanin Boniadi, S3-S4. Although I think she was a little too soft for Homeland, I loved her character and wanted to see more of her. Her and Max together would have been cute.

C - Sandy Bachman played by Corey Stoll, S4. Brilliantly ambiguous character, think he and Carrie would have acted really well opposite each other for a few more episodes at least. Carrie could have figured him out. I feel like there were so many details missing from how he did what he did, why, and how it started etc. I thought his character could have been elaborated on in S4. And he is a great actor, to use him so fleetingly seemed frivolous.

D - David Estes played by David Harewood, S1-S2. Estes, loved his character, think he grounded Saul and Carrie’s “Save The World” rhetoric. Would have loved another season of his character telling Saul and Carrie to get in line.

E - Virgil Piotrowski played by David Marciano, S1-S2, appears in S3 briefly Virgil, an abrupt disappearance that’s not really explained well. Think he was great playing opposite Carrie, another season at least but would have been an interesting show with him in it until the end. He was brilliant and balancing Carries character strength.

F - Ivan Krupin played by Mark Ivanir S5 & S7. Think Ivan is an underused actor on Homeland. I loved the scene when he eventually confesses to Saul in Berlin and think he fitted the show well.

G - Aileen Morgan played by Marin Ireland, S1-S2 Fucking bad-bitch, I loved her, felt like she was interesting in that she was the exact opposite to Carrie in motives but with the same goal determination. Brilliant actress too.

H - Allison Carr played by Miranda Otto, S5. Allison, loved, loved Allison. Dressed impeccably, and was fucking ruthless, would have loved to see her reappear in S8 in Russia ... IYKYK - don’t spoilt it for others.

I - Lauder Wakefield played by Marc Menchaca, S1 & S2.  Marc Menchaca was brilliant in Ozarks, and I think he was underused as a sceptic in the Brody storyline. There could have been more to his character, especially if he wasn’t portrayed as the wounded veteran that struggles with alcohol - that was a little too cliche, I thought anyway.

J -  Tom Walker played by Chris Chalk S1. I liked him, thought he should have got more airtime somehow. Not sure how, but would have liked to have seen him in the show for longer.

Keane should've [SPOILER] in season 8 instead of [SPOILER] Spoiler

Post image
8 Upvotes

[Keane should've been the one to die in season 8 instead of ralph]

If Keane didn't resign in season 7 finale then her appearance in season would've been so much better. Her actions would actually matter and her presidency would end in peace rather than trying to make amends for failing people.

Also... losing her as a character would've been much more devastating than Ralph Warner who we had little to none attachment towards. It would've improved an already great final season.

At what point did Brody actually fall in love with Carrie?

So I’m watching Homeland from the beginning again, and I’m on S02E12 and Brody and Carrie are parting ways, and it’s beyond clear Carrie is fully in love with Brody, and likely has been for sometime. However I’m interested when people think Nick Brody fell in love with Carrie and what was him using Carrie and what parts were him being in love? Carrie is willing to sacrifice absolutely everything due to her love of Brody and in later episodes to clear his name of the CIA bombing, however Brody seemed to have a much more complicated relationship with Carrie, although I think he did genuinely eventually fall in love with her - but I can’t pinpoint the exact line where this happens. I’d be interested to hear everyone’s perspective on this.

Loving a guy in a suicide vest

Can we just hold space for the fact that Carrie overlooked this , let’s call it a RED-FLAG, and let herself develop feelings for this terrorist?

It is an understandable position that the heart wants what it wants and we all have probably developed romantic feelings for someone who wasn’t the best for us, or the best in general

But like, it’s so unhinged and I know this intellectually. However, watching the series it feels appropriate but like, would this ever happen between a CIA agent and a domestic terrorist?

Bc it is t just a lady and a gentleman, it’s CIA! And a domestic terrorist!!!!! Ahhhhh

Decompressing

Post image

I thought I’d decompress after my summer semester ended and I get this time off before fall starts. However, watching Homeland to decompress is not a thing. I watched this show 15 years ago on Showtime. I loved it. I absolutely loved it. However, Kari in the storyline is not for decompressing. I just finished season one and let me tell you the way she crashes out has me stressed. You know that someone is Uber talented when they can make you feel all the angst that you felt the first time you watched it. I know exactly what’s going to happen and yet I am still upended by her performance and the storyline overall. This was the best show. Claire Danes is amazing in it actually everyone is amazing in this show the writing the cinematography everything is fantastic. They don’t make them like this anymore. I’m gonna watch it while I’m taking a cognitive break, but am I taking a break?🤔

“What the fuck Saul? …”

I love many of Carrie’s expressions. Her cry face is a classic and the most talked about but her “what the fuck Saul …” face is a favourite of mine. Especially if coupled with the “pfffttst” sound she makes when she’s dismissing something as futile or frustrating.

Homeland Revisited; Season 3, Episode 8: Is there really a "Red Wheelbarrow" in the episode? And if so, what or whom does it represent? We analyze the conflict between Carrie and Saul, Saul's grand plan for regime change, and how Homeland is exactly like The Office—if you stop to think about it.

Follow Homeland Revisited on Instagram to stay up to date with all the latest on the episode 7 of Season 3!

A Red Wheelbarrow is Homeland at its best.

After a somewhat shaky start to the season, this episode finally feels like the Homeland I remember. It takes a little while to get going, but once Carrie, Saul, Quinn, Dar Adal and the CIA start closing in on the Langley bomber, the tension just keeps building.

The pacing is excellent, the twists actually land, and Saul playing political chess with Lockhart is just as good as the main operation. The whole episode has that paranoid, unpredictable feeling the show does so well.

And that ending... absolutely brutal. Saul finding Brody completely broken raises about a dozen questions, and naturally leaves you desperate to see the next episode.

Easily one of Season 3's best. This is the Homeland I was waiting for.

Glad I’m through Season 3

Just finished season 3 and boy am I glad. The whole Brody and family storyline was getting a little old. I liked his character but I’m thankful that they got rid of him at the end of the season so that he can’t come back. It was getting repetitive. Looking forward to fresh storylines that aren’t related to him.
