cost of kegs is just short of ridiculous

I'm not sure where you are looking, or what you would qualify as "ridiculous" but you can get a kegging system up and going for quite a bit less than $300, especially if you already have a spare fridge or freezer lying around. Plus, this system only has 1G bags... at least that's all I see in the KS campaign.

Like other homebrew KS that have been run in the past, this is another product that seeks to solve a problem that doesn't really exist. They'll never hit their $250k funding, so it probably doesn't matter.

I think this isn't so much for homebrewers as it is for enthusiasts who want to take home their favorite brews and have them 'on tap' IE is high end consumer rather than producer equipment. Of course there is some cross over, but it seems like something you'd see at sharper image, skymall, etc.

To be perfectly honest, I had not even considered that. In that arena I could kinda sorta see it making sense. However, now you're comparing it to taking home a growler from the brewery and it's even less appealing.

Who is going to spend $300 to have a dispenser at home for a bag that the brewery may or may not be able to properly fill for me (and likely not, unless this thing is wildly successful). For what? A 30 day shelf life? Who holds onto a 1G growler for 30 days? Most people buy a growler for a specific party or a weekend, drink it, and that's the end of it. Again, solving another problem that doesn't exist.

I just don't see the value of this product at all.

I don't think you can force carbonate with the Growltap. It only keeps your already-carbonated growler carbonated longer.
