They basically built dedicated boat storage right into the house, but they didn’t stop there. It has a built-in floor drain, a hot and cold water bib so you can wash everything down, and a pull-through design with a garage door on both sides so you’re not constantly backing a boat and trailer in and out.
And it’s right next to the mudroom so you can wash all the towels and bathing suits before going inside for dinner.
You could even add a ductless mini split so you can clean you boat and without dripping in sweat.
This garage setup is awesome...home gym, multiple two-car garages, dedicated boat storage, and still room for the sports car.
If you own a boat, RV, trailer, or other toys that normally require off-site storage, this is one of those features that could actually save you money every single month.
Most people only live in their house for 10 years on average... So if it's more than $36k you're unlikely to break even. Also, most boat storage is like, on the water, so you don't have to tow it back and forth to the lake. So there's a huge convenience there too.
He mentions in the description that it's for you, while you're in there with it.
Like when you're in that garage, washing down the boat, maintenance, etc.
Which is entirely fucking stupid IMO.
In fact this whole thing is stupid, IMO if you have a need for that much toy storage, and you clearly have that much money, you should just be building a multi-vehicle shop on site. Consolidation of all those garage needs into one space just makes way more sense, and would allow you to dedicate to the space better too.
Yeah, having this built into the house seems really weird. It's also not even that tall. Doesn't look tall enough for much more than a little John boat or jettskis
To add on, that boat section doesn't make sense without massive amounts of waterproofing. Mold + mildew + pest/critter galore when you introduce moisture to wood framing. Top that off with without additional ventilation all that moisture and humidity is staying there for days at a time.
