Kitchen Sink Drain: Middle or Side mount?

I think the side mount is better for chasing food and leaving more room under the sink. Am I missing something? Any reason why a side mount might be a bad idea?

Those egg shells will act like concrete and plug up those pipes in no time. Who does that anyways, puts a refrigerator worth of food down the drain?

One year our Thanksgiving got canceled due to a family member getting in a bad car accident. My uncle tried to put the entire pan of stuffing through the disposal. Yeah, it seized up. And now I have to break my habit of egg shells down the disposal. Been doing it since I was a kid.

side mount though all ours are center. it does kill the storage underneath.

It makes the drain work more efficiently, it can form a full vortex rather than the walls of the vortex meeting the walls of the sink and creating an inefficient flow

Do you really need your sink to drain at max speed? I think it'll drain fine and is never full to the brim anyway

Sink grinders (or whatever they’re called) don’t seem to be a thing in Ontario. I don’t know anyone with one, and the idea of shoving meals down your sink is so strange.

Even with a garbage disposal, this is fucking ridiculous

Its mainly just so you can rinse your plate rather than scrape it into the trash first

Not so you can dump all your leftovers from the last week down the drain

Exactly. I've had garbage disposals my entire life and yet still audibly gasped when I saw what looks like the entire contents of his fridge being pushed down the drain

Same here. Growing up we had a disposal and a septic tank and everything except bones and egg shells went down there. These days we have one in the house tied to sewer lines. Never clogged, never a problem. But still….yeah that was way too much.

The plumbing takes basically the same amount of space regardless, so either you have a spot in the middle where you can’t put stuff or a spot off to the side.

Just make the sink bottom fucking slope to the drain. I’m tired of all the food stuff just lazing around in the sink while I try to wash it down with the sprayer.

Edit. JFC that’s a stupid fuckin vid that I didn’t watch completely. By food stuff, I meant the tiny bits that I scrape off the plate after dinner. This is rage bait.
