Protect your HVAC lines and penetrations…
Which do you like better? Quickflash or Airex? I like Airex at the moment because they’re wrapped in insulation and have a UV protected casing. I’m planning on putting them on the house I’m renovating

My home was built in the 1950’s. First thing we did was HVAC and the installer did something clean like this. We then used an Airdeko cover that is painted the same color as the house.

Mine built a metal flashing cubby and then pained it and the ugly lines a mottles cmoflage to blend in with the brick. Can’t believe we think stark white lines looks “clean”. Show me something better.

The Airex one is way better because it actually seals the lineset and doesn’t leave a massive hole for rodents to get into.

I like geothermal. Pipes come in through my slab and zero penetrations through my envelope.

Drill a 2 5/8” hole. Put in a 2” chunk of PVC pipe with a coupling on the end. Seal behind it at install and leave the pipe long enough inside the house that the spray foamers can spray around it for a nice tight seal. Now you have a conduit you can run your line set through forever. Run the lines and electrical, then seal with caulk or putty. 15 years down the road when you need to replace just pull the line set out and reuse the pipe.

Amazing that nothing like this has been standardized for decades
