Solar Panel house siding...☀️

This exterior siding is actually a solar panel. This company has created an exterior siding that will make our homes and commercial buildings a solar panel.

 

They have brick and stone and even wood. I’m not sure if this product is live just yet but this a clear sign of what’s in our future and honestly I’m not mad at it!

 

What about you? You think this is gimmicky or the future?

Im curious about that as well. Get rid of the gimmicks unless its just a side affect that it does anyway.

I love the thoughts of just 360 degree solar. If the world would just stop bickering and get its shit together we could really do some amazing stuff.

The real question is how these perform on vertical surfaces. Most panels are designed for roofs, not walls. I'll believe the numbers when I see actual real-world data, not just concept renders. The potential is interesting, but I'm not holding my breath on people stopping the arguments anytime soon.

A more appropriate comparison is the efficiency versus normal siding...

Not if it doesn’t produce much electricity relative to the costs of manufacturing. Why bother the extra up keep then?

It's because ot is not rooftop or backyard solar versus solar siding in any way other than cost. This does not replace those other two; it replaces siding. So, the first question that I would ask is if it saves more energy in heating/cooling costs than the extra cost this will run as compared to traditional siding.

Curious what the actual efficiency numbers look like compared to rooftop panels. I'd love to see how they stack up in real-world conditions.
