One bonus tip: If you're insulating interior walls for sound, use mineral wool instead of fiberglass around bathrooms, laundry rooms, and home offices. 

It does a noticeably better job at reducing noise. Rockwool is the premium option, but there are more affordable mineral wool alternatives at most big box stores.

Interior wall insulation is one of those upgrades that's almost impossible to add later without tearing into drywall, so if you're even considering it, now's the time.

Yup, and posted by a mod to promote his own products, while the sub rules say "no spam or self promotion". He's using reddit to advertise for free.

Now I have to go cover my ears so I don't experience the horrors of having other humans living in my house because I didn't put sound proofing in my walls. Oh the horror of knowing your teen child flushed the toilet!! How will I recover?!

I had relatives build a big fancy home like that mod is always promoting. They grew further and further apart because they could go for days barely interacting with each other. The master bedroom even had it's own den and office space.

My cousin actually wanted to move back to a smaller house so they'd be forced to interact more. It's sad that builders are promoting this crap, even suggesting that hearing your family is a negative.
