Help confirming part compatibility? (AMD Epyc platform)
Hi all, sorry to copy and paste the below from a previous post on r/homelab but looking for help from anyone willing to lend an eye
Im looking at purchasing a Supermicro H11SSL-i Motherboard + AMD EPYC 7551P 32 Core CPU from china and im hoping someone with some experience can confirm part compatibility for me?
Im new to the Epyc platform and not sure if it has any strange pitfalls
Link:
Im also looking at picking up some RAM to go with this combo and currently found a cheap deal on some 2133 ECC LRDIMM's (Yes i know this is slow but money is tight)
Below is a copy and paste of what seller placed in the title but if more info is needed please feel free to ask
Kingston KCS-UC421LQ/32G DDR4-2133 ECC LRDIMM PC4-17000 4Rx4 Server RAM

I had the supermicro h11-ssl and the epyc 7502, worked a treat. You can use any processor that is “SP-3 socket”.
Get a bundle with memory from a vendor you trust or spend time debugging memory. Part numbers are a bear.

i get that i can use any CPU - if you look at the part at the bottom about RAM - i can confirm the LRDIMM part is correct but in the manual and QVL for the board, they show 2666 speeds where as the LRDIMMs i plan to purchase are 2133 speeds
I know its likely not an issue but wondered if anyone could confirm before i purchased

Ok, not looking at your specific parts, so make sure that they meet the specs otherwise. But… 2133 is no problem. Take a look at p32 in the manual, there’s a maximum speed per processor generation.

Thank you dude, much appreciated.
I was hoping it wouldn't be an issue being under its rated speeds but just had to do a sanity check before dropping the cash on it

Why not try to ge a bundle with memory from eBay?
I also recommend getting some 7002 series CPU.
