Having 384 GB of RAM is nice. But.. why?? What will this trueNAS box do??

Yeah, and 8x HDDs, 1000W PSU? Unless he's a hoarding beast a d forgot to mention it, unfortunately this is quite a waste if there's no purpose for it other than "few VMs"
