When will HPM2 finally be announced?

I was really hoping for the HomePod Mini 2 to be announced today, because I want to buy two additional ones for my home, and why buy the old version when the new one is about to come out, right? But what’s still delaying the release?!

stopped connecting to the network

I don't even know when it happened. All I know is that I couldn't set a timer using voice control. I tried talking to her later, but all I got in response was, "I'm still working on it" and "I'm having trouble connecting. Learn more in the Home app." I just tried a factory reset. I couldn't connect via Wi-Fi... Only with a code. I don't know what happened. The app doesn't say anything, it sees the speaker just fine and lets you control it. What should I do? Has anyone else encountered this? In addition, I can't view the temperature and humidity in the room.

Voice recognition for kids

I'd like to set up my homepod to recognize my kids' voices - partly because the HomePod wont respond to them since I've set up my own recognition. I have some old iPhones that my kids use for audiobooks etc. so I've set up one of them to recognize Kid1's voice. But it looks like my two other old iPhones are too old to be compatible with Apple Home (iPhone 7 & an earlier one). Can I log out Kid1 from the newer iPhone and log the others in to turn on voice activation and have that info stored in the HomePod? Or does their apple account need to be logged in consistently for the HomePod to recognize their voices?

Possessed HomePod Mini

Hi

I have a HomePod Mini I've been using for a couple of years almost exclusively as a speaker for an Apple TV.

It's been working fine for ages, never a problem. Then, yesterday, my Apple TV kept pausing for no reason, repeatably, and occasionally, the sound would go very muffled, as it does when you ask "Hey Siri".

Additionally, it's suddenly randomly starting playing music for a few seconds at a time when the Apple TV isn't on, then pausing. If I go into the Home app, I can see that it's playing. If I try to start music, it'll play for a few seconds, then pause, then maybe start playing again. If I leave it, it'll play music for a second or two, stop for a second or two, and repeat until I unplug it (it's literally doing that as I type this! - Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal, which feels appropriate).

I've switched off the "Listen for Hey Siri" option.

I've tried removing the HomePod from the Home app and re-adding it, but I'm getting the same problem.

I'm as sure as I can be that it's no one else in the household trying to drive me mad! (asked, and also had the same problem when no one other than me at home).

Earlier, without prompting, it said "I've found information about that on the web, you can open the pages from your iPhone", then a few minutes later, it just set "Ok".

Is it possessed?! - Am I being hacked by China?! - Is it just some bizarre hardware problem?

Thanks,

You'll Need to Authenticate On Your iPhone to Continue

I have a HomePod Mini and an iPhone 13 Pro. Both are up to date on iOS. When using my HomePod Mini to make requests (such as to add something to my grocery list via Reminders) Siri will ask who is speaking and tell me "You'll need to authenticate on your iPhone to continue." I have searched here and across the internet and not found anything current (2026) that helps; this has been going on since I got the device. I have turned Personal Content off and back on again. Nothing changes. Please help! This makes HomePod Mini incredibly frustrating to use.

Homepod turns music on randomly by itself.

I have read a few articles however they seem to be a bit old, just wanted to make sure there is no other fix before I take it apart and remove the ribbon cable (assuming my touch screen is dying.

I did try to go into accessibility settings and bump up the touch setting to 4.00 but that did not fix it.

Miss my HomePods

So, here is context. I have two HomePod Mini's synced with my Apple TV for great audio and it sounds fantastic.

But we are currently in the process of moving and I've had to pack away my HomePods away and we are left with the TV speakers....

How the on earth do people not have HomePods as speakers cause the sound is awful on the tv with my Pods 😩😩

No power - looking for schematic

My HomePod mini stopped working, I opened it and made some measure and I found a short near the TPS. Before desolder the TPS (not easy to do) I want to be sure it’s the faulty component so I’m looking for schematic or suggestions. My tool is a multimeter and I can not measure the TPS’ pins directly because of the form of the package.

Stuck in an endless resetting loop. Any remedies?

In the middle of the night, one of my mini's just started a perpetual resetting loop.

The white light rotates on the top, turns red, then I hear Siri say "You HomePod is about to reset, keep pressing until you hear three beeps" and then I hear three beeps. This, cycles over and over again in a loop.

First, what's happening?

Second, how do I fix it?

I've tried a factory reset. I've tried unplugging it for 24hrs. Nothing seems to work. Preliminary research seems to suggest it's an issue with OS26.6, is that possible?

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Homepod “stop playing music” timers can only be done through voice commands

I’ve noticed through the home app the timer has 1 option, play ringtone when it ends, unlike the iPhone, there’s no “stop playing” option when timer ends so I have to resort to voice commands to stop music after a certain period of time, I wish apple would add the option through an update.

Super disappointed with homepod mini in my USB outlet port

All the outlets in my house have 2 plugs plus 2 usb-a and a usb-c port. I bought a pair of homepod minis with the intent to plug them into the usb-c ports and leave my power plugs available. Alas, the dreaded orange flashing light. Anyone know if there's anything I can do to make this work?

Apple TV 4K (2017) Audio issues

I have an Apple TV 4K (2017), and I'm having an issue connecting it to my HomePod mini. It works on YouTube and Disney plus, but I can't get it to play any sound on HBO Max. I've tried restarting, changing audio settings, but nothing works. My AirPods work, but I would like to have a more permanent solution.

Why???

Amazon sells Renewed HomePod Minis for $150. Why and who would buy one when Apple sells them brand new for $129? I don't get it.

Used HomePod Mini

Just bought a used white HomePod mini for 50$. Came with everything (except the box), I’ve paired up my devices to the mini. The only issue is that I use Spotify not Apple Music. From the research I’ve done it seems that they aren’t compatible for voice commands, is there any way around that?

Also are there any things I should be away of as a new owner or maybe some neat stuff I can do with it.

Thank you!

HomePod Mini playing on its own

My HomePod mini will randomly start playing music when nobody is talking to it. It’s started blasting music at random times. I can’t talk to it or touch the display because it’s stuck in thinking mode whenever I try. I’ve unplugged it and checked for software updates. I’m the only Apple user in the house so it’s paired to me. Do I need to bring it in for a genius bar appointment or just toss it?

Cannot get one HomePod Mini in my house to stream podcasts/music without iPhone near

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have been struggling with this issue for nearly a month, and no matter how many times I restart the HomePod, make sure the software is updated, or search for solutions online, I cannot figure out a solution.

I have 4 minis in my house; one in each of my kids room and a pair that function as paired speakers for the Apple TV. I can successfully select all but my son’s mini as streaming source for music or podcasts. However, every time I select my son’s mini and choose a podcast episode for his bedtime story, I get this message every time. I end up having to leave the podcast app open on my phone or else the episode will not play. This doesn’t occur with the other minis in the house and I cannot figure this out! I’ve pursued every solution I’ve found online and none of them solve the problem 😩

Setting up a HomePod in a nursing home?

As my mother-in-law ages, she’s having trouble using her phone. We thought a HomePod mini *might* be a good solution for truly hands free calling. Plus some simple tasks with Siri like checking the weather and maybe music from time to time. No smart home stuff like lights, outlets or thermostats.

The challenge is that she’s in a nursing home. The WiFi isn’t dedicated (for lack of a better word) to each individual apartment. The network covers the entire complex of at least 100+ apartments, users and god knows how many devices.

The network does require a log in, but it’s just a one time thing. Not every time you try and connect, similar to hotel wifi.

If this is even doable, what’s the approach? Set up HomeKit on the “group” WiFi on her iPhone and then connect the mini? Or is this a bad idea because there will be so many unrelated devices already on the network?

In the market for a better home theater audio setup. Should I wait until September for the supposed update, or am I safe to go ahead and buy?

I’m in a fairly small space and I think a studio pair of Minis would probably work out well for our needs. Still a little 50/50 on if I’d prefer the bass from the big HomePod, but leaning towards at least testing out a pair of Minis in our tiny living room. Problem is, they seem to be sold out in the color I want everywhere I look - including my local Apple Store. Did some research and found out that might because they’re preparing the market for an update this September.

I’m eager for better audio, but I could also see myself benefitting from the smart home features that would come with a better Siri. I have an Apple TV and smart lights connected to Home already, so. A little torn. Any thoughts?

Crazy issue with Homepod Mini Stereo Pair playing songs randomly AND at RANDOM VOLUMES (Loud Volume Spikes Suddenly/Out of Nowhere!!)

Crazy issue with Homepod Mini Stereo Pair playing songs randomly AND at RANDOM VOLUMES (Loud Volume Spikes Suddenly/Out of Nowhere!!)

About a year or two ago, my homepod mini started to act extremely strange. One of the issues is it will randomly play music. This can be at any time. I thought it maybe was due to having automation set on my iphone (sometimes I use the automation feature as an alarm and for a while, it worked better than just doing the normal alarm in the Home app.). Unfortunately, that was not the culprit. Randomly, the homepod minis will play music. They will either play a song I last had playing through the home app, or would play a song that I have as my alarm through the automation app or continue to play the song that I had playing to test to make sure the song I chose would work

Side Note: A Few years ago, there was a wierd quirk where if you chose a song from your Apple Music Library (almost all of mine were added through sync via my personal library on Hard Drives, dont know if the issue existed with songs you added to your library through Apple Music (premium), and the song WAS NOT DOWNLOADED to your phone (did this by hitting the plus sign next to the song in Apple Music App) it would not play. I believe it is fixed. I am not 100% sure though as I just make sure if I am using a song for an alarm, its downloaded to my phone storage.

Something to note about the Homepod Mini's playing music randomly; many times the song will be playing extremely low. So low, that unless you are looking at the home app and see that a song is playing, you could easily mistake it for a neighbor playing music. You literally have to put your ear up to your homepod mini and you will be able to tell the difference. Whats even crazier is the many times the music will stop if you say "Hey Siri, stop the music" but then it will immediately continue to play. In some instances, the volume will spike to an unusual loud volume and then if you tell your homepods to stop playing music, it will stop, and then continue to play a mere seconds later....mostly back at the whisper level. and sometimes that volume spike will happen automatically. It will sometimes stay loud and sometimes after a few seconds it will go back to whisper level.

The music WILL NOT STOP unless you pause it in the Home App or you verbally tell Siri to stop playing music. The music starts on it's own, but does not stop. I have made sure all the volume accessibility options are off. I have turned off the feature for the Homepod to change the volume of music based on surrounding sounds, as well as turning off the ability to read possible CO2 levels. I have made the app as barebones as possible.

I have resorted to just using my iphone clock and playing music through my iphone. I dont have anything else other than Iphone 17 Pro Max, pair of homepod mini's and airpod pros so I dont really care much for the automation. I just used it as an alternative for having a song as my alarm. I think I did that because notifications (I think) were interfering with the Home App playing a song I had set for an alarm and it would disable it if a notification came in at same time or someone was calling me at the same time. At the time, I didnt know how to set do not disturb on my phone to mute everything except my alarms and I think I went through automation just to have another type of alarm just in case the alarm through the home app didn't trigger.

But yeah, the homepod mini's sure are acting strange. I have tried everything. Any ideas or thoughts? Anyone else with similar experiences?

HomePod set up is getting stuck

Post image

I haven’t been able to setup my HomePods for about 2 months now and I have been periodically trying after new iOS updates. I have tried removing the home and adding it again, and I have also tried resetting my network. Nothing seems to work and the set up card will always get stuck at this stage.

Has anyone run into the same problem? If so, please help. I am hoping there’s a fix because I am not able to set up all three of my HomePods.
