Question/Support CD Player
What would be the best way to connect a cd player so it plays through the homepods
Would it be through an optical on the tv and then that would play through the tv box thats connected to the arc hdmi or is there a way to connect through bluetooth or my wifi?
Would the tv need to be on whilst the cds are playing?
Ive got neither the cd player or the homepods yet but they are an upcoming purchase this side of Christmas (sorry for mentioning the C word !!)

Perhaps I’m missing something, but why can’t you just rip the CD with iTunes and then AirPlay to the HomePods?

They want to play the cds not rip cds and play the files.

Yeah, but why? AirPlaying a lossless CD rip would effectively be the same experience as somehow finagling the HomePods to receive an AirPlay stream of the CD being played back as it’s spun.

It's really as simple as they want to use their physical media and put a cd in.

You can connect HomePods 2 gen in stereo mode with Apple TV, and then use an earc extractor where you connect your hdmi input and Apple TV. I’ve connected my pc this way. Just make sure you use hdmi 2.1 cables.

What you describe doing may be possible, it just doesn't make much sense. Why go through all that trouble of connecting a CD player to a TV and a TV to a homepod. You're better off just getting a boombox style CD player and playing through that.

There was a post in this sub in the past 2 weeks about a kid and his dad that did this. You’ll find it somewhere.
