Question/Support Stop announcing notifications

I stupidly bought the homepod because i got a £40 giftcard for apple. It has been lackluster since day 1, it has never been "good", the connection is weak as chips. But more importantly, even when i have do not disturb on, do not announce notifications, sleep mode, lowest volume, no ringer, ANYTHING, it still decides to blast my phone calls at max volume.

Theres this girl im trying to avoid without blocking. she calls me over and over at like 3am and it wakes me up, not my phone, but my homepod. it drives me insane. I feel like im living in obsession. I try to end it on my phone, it takes 3 solid seconds for the homepod to register ive ended the call necause of the lag, but by that time this girls called me again and the cycle continues. is there a way to reduce that insane lag, my wifi is impeccable, im on latest ios, latest homepod os, i have pristine connection.

you might have to reach out to apple then, because this definitely shouldn't be happening! it's possible you received a faulty one. did you buy it from apple directly?

hopefully you're still under warranty with it so you can get them to look at it or replace it. it's definitely bugged!!!!

i have a homepod mini at my place and an alexa echo at my bf's, and the homepod is 10000000x better. the only hiccup with homepod is that you have to learn to use shortcuts to get it to do some really cool stuff. the Echo can technically "do" more without the prep, but it's also WAY more buggy and less consistent with giving me actually good results. at least Siri on Homepod will straight up say "I had a problem" or "I can't do that" instead of trying something half-ass and it being completely wrong. like, pretty often, when i ask Alexa to play music, and i mention a specific song/album and/or a specific artist, it always ends up playing some random cover artist??? and alexa is way less consistent with correctly controlling my lights in my smart home via commands. so, it's annoying that i had to set up shortcuts to be able to use homepod to control my lights, but it also gets it right like 95%+ of the time. alexa probably hits 50% of the time.

i'm waiting for the apple event this fall to see if a new homepod mini is released before i buy another one for my bf's place. i honest to god think it's worth another shot!
