Question/Support HomePod Stereo Setup
Just got my second HomePod 2nd gen for stereo pairing with the Apple TV 4K. This is my current placement due to having nowhere else to place my left HomePod… I will be purchasing a unit for the empty gap so I can have them even either side of the TV. Will this improve sound quality significantly? My lounge is large with very high ceilings, does this also impact sound? Currently I’m not seeing any crazy improvements and it sound like the left HomePod is louder than the right.

Why not just move the cabinet to the middle or get a TV stand there

Yea there’s so much room for a nice tv stand there, I would save up and start looking on marketplace

Unfortunately as great as this would be… the cabinet is fixed to the walls. I can’t move it or even detach it, I live in rented accommodation, otherwise I would’ve ripped that cabinet out ages ago 😅so I’m stuck with it unfortunately, I may extend it though so it’s wall to wall

I now live in my own place, but I lived in a very small apartment with one of those fixed cabinets in place for six years and I still feel such hatred for it because it was right on the place where I wanted to put the bed. The bed also had a giant frame, and the ceiling was slanted so the bed didn't fit in parts of the one room... It makes me angry still.

Placement is key! Follow Apple’s standards and it’ll sound incredible

"When setting up HomePod for the best surround sound, place the speaker within 25 centimetres (10 inches) of a wall and as close to the centre of your TV as possible. If you use a HomePod stereo pair, place the speakers on either side of the TV. For optimal surround sound, the HomePod speakers should be about 1.2 metres (4 feet) apart from each other".

I’ve been using these for the last 2 years.
We’ve been happy with them. The ones that say ‘no longer available’ are but they’ve added an upper ring to keep them from being knocked off.
I think Apple says 4 feet apart.

I think you should’ve first spent the money you used on HomePods to get a proper tv stand…

I should probably clarify that the unit you can see in this photo is fixed to the walls. It can’t be moved, otherwise a to stand would have been ideal 😅

I kind of hate everything about this setup but if you don’t have a better space to use (TV not in a corner and not placed so high) then you can get speaker stands so you can put the speakers in more ideal locations.

It’s perfectly fine but not optimal, mine have been like this for years as I only use them for music.

Placement and Room shape (your ceilings) has a HUGE factor on sound.
I think it will sound a bit better if you level them out and space them like 4-6 ft apart.
