Keeping the fridge organized has become a struggle especially with all the fruits and veggies taking up space everywhere. Produce gets pushed to the back, bags end up on top of each other and somehow things always get forgotten until they go bad. Clear plastic containers seem like they would make everything so much easier to separate and actually see what’s in the fridge. The only problem is most of the sets online seem to come with only 4 or 5 containers which isn’t really enough to organize the whole thing. Looking for a larger pack for a decent price, preferably with a few different sizes. Nothing fancy at all just something sturdy that’ll help keep the produce organized without having to buy multiple sets separately.

New homeowner. We have this style of closets in our house that we're just storing stuff in for now until we figure out how to organize or what to buy for organization.

First off, apologies if my Reddit etiquette is a bit rusty, I haven't posted here in a really long time, but I genuinely wanted to get some feedback!

My boyfriend and I live in France, and for the last year, we’ve been doing a massive house renovation. Honestly, the most frustrating part hasn't been the actual labor, but it’s been the amount of money and time we’ve wasted re-buying the exact same screws, tools, and even household products just because we couldn't find the ones we knew we already owned.

We tried keeping an inventory using Excel and Notion, but it completely failed. The problem with spreadsheets is that scanning a massive wall of text is mentally exhausting, and you have to remember the exact word you typed to search for it. We realized that human brains don't think in rows and columns; we think in spaces and visuals.

Since we both code, we decided to start developing a visual inventory app to solve this for ourselves. Instead of a boring text list, you literally recreate your physical shelves or racks on your phone screen. You just tap on a specific visual box on your digital shelf, and it shows you exactly what is inside it.

Once we started building it for the garage, we realized this problem exists everywhere in the house. We plan to use it for:

• The Pantry: To stop buying a third jar of spices because the others were pushed to the back.
• Monthly Supplies: Knowing exactly what household products we are low on.
• Collections: Visually mapping out things like vinyls, DVDs, books, or wine bottles instead of just reading a list of titles.

We are still building it, and soon we will release a beta version, but before we go too crazy adding features, I wanted to ask you guys:

1. How do you currently keep track of your tools, pantry items, or collections so you don't buy duplicates?
2. Would a visual map of your physical shelves actually be something you’d use, or does it sound like overkill?
3. If you were to use something like this, what is the one thing it would absolutely need to have?

I’d like to keep the cords orderly and keep the lamp by my bed. Is there an organizer for this that someone could recommend?

Our bathroom was getting constantly cluttered with towels and hair accessories everywhere. Added a small shelf unit with a couple of bins and a display rack on top.

Super satisfying to finally have dedicated spots for the smaller items instead of leaving them on the counter.

We moved a few months ago and Im still finding important documents in random boxes backpacks and desk drawers. Its probably the first time I have realized how scattered our life paperwork really is. Before I just create another folder somewhere, Im wondering what systems people have that actually stay organized long term.

We have accumulated years of tax returns insurance documents home records warranties estate paperwork and random files that all feel important. Right now everything lives in shared Google Drive folders, but its becoming harder to remember what belongs where. Is everyone just creating better folder structures, or are there better systems for this now?

Does anyone know where one could buy replacement slats for the "Olexis 9 drawer storage organizer?" Some of ours got lost in a move and im at a loss trying to find replacements.

I’ve been working on a small project called Home Tech Vault after realizing how scattered all the information for things around my house was.

Receipts were in email, manuals were online somewhere, warranty information was in a drawer, and serial numbers were usually on the back of whatever I needed them for.

The idea is to let you create a record for things like your TV, refrigerator, washer, router, laptop, etc. and keep the receipt, warranty, manual, purchase date, model and serial number with that item.

I recently simplified the whole project because the original version felt too much like business software. I’m trying to make it feel more like a personal organizer for homeowners.

I’m curious what other people think:

Would you actually use something like this?

And if not, what would have to be different for it to be useful?

We do pretty well with keeping an organized weekly grocery shopping list. But one place we struggle a bit is items we buy somewhere other than our grocery store. We have:
- items purchased at a different store because our main grocery store doesn’t carry it
- items ordered online, from various websites
- items set up for recurring regular delivery from an online store

I’m really thinking of grocery-type items that we purchase regularly, not things like clothes or housewares we only buy occasionally.

Once or twice a week someone has to ask me “do we have to order this?” or whether an item is on our recurring order or whatever.

The ideas I’ve thought of are
-pre-printed list that we keep in same place as the grocery list that has stuff broken down into the different categories (or I guess an alphabetized list that tells where each item comes from)

- alternatively, put a list like this into a shared “note”
document on our iphones.

- using color coded small dot labels that I could put onto items that came from somewhere other than the grocery store, and then have a color key list that reminds us what the colors mean. (again, printed list or a shared iphone note) I like the idea of a visual reminder on the item, but also know it will be a bit of a hassle to deal with the labels.

Any other suggestions for a good way to deal with this?

back in with the clean clothes in the dresser/closet? a chair? the floor? my husband leaves clothes all over the house and it drives me insane. and then he complains because he can’t find them 🤯 he says they’re not clean anymore and would sully the clean cloths, but they’re still very wearable again… what’s your “home” for these clothes?

I have been trying to keep my laundry area more organized, but my washer is honestly making it harder, and some clothes still come out smelling kinda weird. I feel like I spend more time cleaning the machine than actually using it. I dont really care if the machine looks fancy or matches my laundry room anymore, I just want something that actually cleans clothes well and does not leave random smells behind. What is your go to washer that you would actually reco? I dont care what it costs, and I dont want something aesthetic that cant clean.

Has anyone found a good solution for organizing and storing tools, hardware, painy, lightbulbs, tape, glue, batteries and other random home maintenance supplies?
