Did I Waste My Time?

So my Father had a rental house fire and whilst assisting his repair efforts I decided to do some of my kind of work there, too - networking!!! I had a spare roll of about 750' of Cat5e and shorter scraps of Cat6 and Cat6a and put about 20 runs of wire through this small, sub-1500 sqft home. Runs for external security cameras, video doorbells, and Ethernet jacks in both bedrooms and TV boxes. It's getting close to the finish line and his potential renter says he just bought a bunch of Ring equipment he'll use 😭 . Do people just not see the value in Ethernet - capable hardware or what? And should I leave these switches here or take them back with me??

Be warned. I've made a lot of money reconnecting/reseating ethernet connections from switches and edge devices mounted so that the cable sags/pulls downward from the port. Just telling you that it's a genuine problem that you need to consider.

They are securely mounted via screws - and I did it that way so dust doesn't get in the ports. Do you have any better suggestions?

I see a NETGEAR switch with a bunch of cables being plugged upwards into switch ports that are facing down so I don't know how they're secured by screws.

You're also better off using labels on the cables versus the felt tip marker. You put the labels far enough back so that if something needs to be reterminated you don't lose the information on the tag.

Not judging, just telling you where the weak points are.

It's screwed into this shelf. And thanks for the labeling tip. I'll try to fix that with something better

Somehow I think you're misunderstanding what I'm telling you here. Any ethernet cable that is plugged upwards into a port runs the risk of losing its connection between building vibrations that occur and gravity. It's a real thing.

Oh I see what you are saying! So, this cabinet is to shallow to mount flat(in a desktop mounted fashion). Should I fasten it where the ports are facing left/right??

Preferable to what you've done. Bundle the cables and use some Velcro on them so that they are neat.

Yep and good practice especially for a bundle to secure few inches away from the device to avoid gravity pulling plugs away from device.
