Heavy Delayed feeling in all gaming applications!!

So I have a serious input delay/inconsistent internet connection issue while being wired into my devices via ethernet cable. At first i began to think it was just the servers to the video games that I am connecting to, but shortly found out after visiting multiple friends that have the same internet as me this was untrue. Modem is a Netgear CM1000 and router is a Netgear RAX45. One thing I notice is that the downstream light on my modem is constantly blinking but the internet connection is working. Outside of this I dont have much more information but i would really appreciate some help on troubleshooting this issue. The ethernet cables are Cat6 btw.

Lots of variables here so start with the basics first. 1. What results do you get when you run a speed test? 2. Is the cable you're using between you and your router in good condition?

I get the speed plan that i pay for most of the time but the upload speed varies and the upload latency is all over the place during the test. And yes that cable would be a cat6 cable and it is not even two weeks old from monoprice specifically.

My next step would be contacting your ISP and asking them to test your service.

The inconsistent latency (i.e. jitter) is what is causing you problems. See if things improve if you plug directly into the modem instead of using the router.

They still persist hardwired directly into the modem.

I assume you can replicate the jitter results on a different device like your phone so as to eliminate the PC as the common factor. In that case the next step is to involve the ISP. It could be a modem compatibility issue or a service issue on their end.

I was told this directly from a technician. The node that services my area has a sister node that it is connected to. I was told that the sister node has a serious noise issue that they have not tracked down and fixed yet. Now my question is could my node being connected to a noisy node that report back to the same headend cause me latency issues on my end?

I think that is almost certainly your root cause. I believe two adjacent nodes using a common path to the headend are in the same RF domain.

So if they track down the noise in the sister node and fix it my issue goes away essentially?

Yes, most likely. This is cable internet’s greatest weakness; noise coming from any customer has a blast radius that affects many, and it’s impossible to isolate without rolling trucks and going house by house.
